This thread is old, pointless, and stupid.

It does not matter what the fans want.  What matters the most is that the band can work together and function in a productive manner. That is why Axl is where he is at today.

Old GN'R. I like new GN'R but let's be honest, they are nothing compared to the old band.
I'll kick your ass like I said that I would.

There should be a Both Old & New GNR option as I'd chose both lineups. They are each unique on their own and from 2006 till now,new gnr has made great music together.Wasn't a huge fan of the 2001-2002 GNR lineup simply because it was just a circus act freakshow with Robin Finck looking like a modern day alien and of course Buckethead (who by the way his solo stuff rocks,he just never fit in with the band)...Once Robin grew out his hair and started the caveman look,I began to like him, then he left and DJ Ashba took over and for me his Ballad Of Death solo made me an instant fan of his, sure he has alot of the similarities of Slash and people complain that he's a ripoff of Slash but all in all I love that he can get the crowd going during WTTJ...Simply awesome. But all in all I support old guns lineup and the 2006-present lineup.

I always find it funny how when "supporting" or "favoring" the new line up, some go into great lengths to justify it. That's because the old is the best. When the new plays Welcome to the Jungle, it hits so hard. Again, that's because the old gave it life.

In his heart of hearts, imo Axl knows the old band is more musically superior as Guns N' Roses than the new.

Now, he just lives a much more comfortable and consistent life with the new....which is what you'd expect from any experienced older gentlemen. At his age, he doesn't need the drama, whether he's the root cause or a minor contributor. Sometimes Jack and Coke taste great...until you've had too much yak all over yourself.

You guys are fucking dickheads, perpetuating this argument .. Fuck it off already!

Some like the old, some like the new, get the fuck over it as I'm sure none of you are middle aged and desperately holding onto what remains of your wild teen years through memories of old music all the while complaining about 'back in my day...' anyway.

Back in MY day, Guns N' Roses WERE Rock n Roll!

haha.. what a great discussion this is which gives the fans of both versions of the band a chance to come together and discuss / debate about all kinds of comparisons!

Axl fears the reunion because it would shine light (IMO) on the smoke and mirrors b(r)and he has on stage these days.

The new b(r)and though are a bunch of great musicians who I think are perfect for this in that they have no will, say, control, or pretty much any responsabilities aside showing up whenever the boss tells them to and playing things that sound pleasing to the bosses ear.

TSI.. stand aside and let us who would enjoy a healthy debate, enjoy it.

"Noooooo! I don't want you guys discussing _________!!!!!!"

WTF is there to talk about in regards to this brand? Fucking ticket sales and how much money they're making now?

You wanna talk about the next album, Santa and the Easter Bunny?

You want us to talk about how great Axl is and how "This I Love" makes us cry when we listen to it alone?

How Axl is so BAD ASS and the last "Rockstar" because he has enough money now to say "fuck you" to anyone and would still have an army under him saying he's perfect?

Dude.. start a thread. I'm VERY interested in what you might wish us to discuss oh wise Mr. Moderator.

To me, GNR was all about the attitude. Songs like It's so easy, Jungle, You could be mine, Double Talkn jive, Nighttrain, ect.
I feel like people who are into the the new band more see it as an Axl thing. They re prob more into November Rain, Estranged, This I Love, Madagascar ect. I just don't get that. Ballads are not very rock n roll.
While I enjoy some of the new stuff it lacks energy and attitude. Its just not GNR. When Axl tours with the new band, he basically is making money off the name GNR and past catalog. If they only played new stuff nobody would go.

I've said it before (many many times) the new band are really good musicians and they are the best lineup since the originals.  However, the original GnR were the last band of their kind, pure, uncompromising rock n roll. For a band in the late 80's dominated by bubble gum hair bands to bring out a album like AFD and then just a few years later to bring out the Illusions which were great but a stretch from Appetite and still be considered relevant in the grunge and hip hop era.  They appealed to everyone, young girls, stoners, metalheads, bikers, classic rockers, soccer moms, etc, etc. They captured lighting in a bottle, they were a modern day harder edged Rolling Stones, with 5 unique charcters all bringing their styles and influence to create magic. There is a reason why 25 years later people of all ages are still screaming for a reunion. My dad's favorite band is the Beatles and he always talks and says "You just had to be there" I understand now. So for all those people that say fuck the old band and on with new, you are only fooling yourself and i'm sorry you never got to experience true magic in the form of these guys.

Or even the Gilby and Matt lineup.
