that'd be embarrassing - it's a little folk melody that I'm not sure those who like GNR would dig. I don't know the name of the band/name of song - haha I SUCK - but I found it again this summer when a coworker had the mp3... just my luck! I was SO elated! so I'll upload it for you. Just don't laugh!!!! The first time I heard it there was a video accompanying it: basically the camera moving backwards in one continuous shot of empty classrooms/hallways and then out into narrow empty urban paths.

And I'm glad you like slide away - most people barely notice it.
but I know what you mean with gnr - I like how they change raunchy songs around 180 - like even with end of My Michelle. makes ya smile.

and the smiths yeah that's broody music for sure! I don't think the dude's voice is capable of sounding happy... :(
how about landslide by fleetwood mac?

Well iv just d/l'd landslide. Got a live version with stevie dedecating it to her dad. Pretty cool song but i dont feel like crying today, lol! Thinking of Fleetwood Mac though, they have had a few significant line up changes, rather like gnr.

When you said you uploaded the tune, did you mean into the hub? Cus i have no used it yet, but keep meaning to, so if you could leave it there for a couple of days whilst i figure out what to do...

You are right about gnr turning songs 180, well put! I think all my favorite tracks by gnr have about three songs rolled into one. Off topic, but paranoid android by radiohead is a prime example of this.

Right, unless CD gets released this week im gonna figure out the hub.

:'( Cheers

Hey I threw on OK computer for the first time in a long time prompted by your post. paranoid android nice pick! genius song on a genius album. I guess coma's the gnr equivalent for a song the grows and transforms so much from beginning to end. gotta love coma - sick of formulaic songs!

Oh and I didn't mean the hub - I barely even know what that's for. East village is as far south as I wander..... so..... here it is (link below)! ahhh!!! I'm a touch nervous. it's the instrumental...

^ lol... sure.

There's this really simple melody that can  fucking make me break down. I can't explain it! It makes me remember memories that don't exist. Ah! It's a very intense feeling like I feel an entire childhood and all these experiences in this melody very very earnestly even though there's no possibility of it actually having happened. It's like i lived another lifetime... I don't know - just thinking about the melody can make me cry - the words aren't necessary - it's in japanese which I don't understand.

Well i'v just listened, and i know what you mean about it conjures up memories that you dont have. Iv been refering to this phenomena as 'instantly memorable'. To me its as though i know where the music is going to take me next, without having heard the song before.
I had this the first time i heard 'i know its over' by the smiths, but it happens quite often.
Thanks for posting the link, i really enjoyed it. I must admit though, being that i followed it from CD.com, i was imagining Axl singing something over the top. Something along the lines of 'the blues', or 'nov rain'. Axl is quite a good musician, imo, which is something i dont always remember...
Coma! I havn't listened to that for ages! Great song! Thinking about it, UYI 1 is gonna have to go on in a bit. I keep putting on AFD out of habit when it comes to gnr.

Incidentally, Radiohead said that they looked to Bohemian Rasphody for a bit of inspiration when it came to Paranoid Android, which i think they achieved, as they both make you cry, and rock at the same time. A good combiation...  :'(

lol hey gigi - I warned ya! that's why I was a bit hesitant to post the tune - not exactly something to rock out to!! But I'm so happy you understand exactly what I was talking about! For me I can't say it happens too often - usually I get thrown back to memories I do have - eg. soundgarden's blow up the ouside world I used to listen to every saturday when I was a kid.

oooh! I definitely have to check out 'i know its over'. I have to locate it first tho. i'll try to get a friend to dl for me (or can you send it to me?) btw, I personally like the blues better than nov rain. you reeeally have to be in the right mood for nov rain because it can be over-dramatic :lipssealed: () so for me anyway when I'm not in the mood it loses the 'honesty' the blues has....

Understory-  :kiss2: People are often suprised to hear that Queen rocks! Ill post a link to i know its over, but im gonna have to get my mate to show me how. Fortunatly ill see him tomorrow so ill try and get it done this week end.

I agree that nov rain is a bit on the epic side, but it will always win because of  the final guitar solo and dramatic ending, one of my favorite pieces of a song ever! With new gnr i think madagascar would be my favorite so far. The opening reminds me of funeral organs (sobs, ironically...). Seriously though im not a morbid person, it just this thread, honestly! I will persevere with the blues though, cus everybody here thinks its great so i think im missing out on something somewhere.

W.A.R'swife  :kiss2:  :kiss2: , there there!

Right, ill be back with the link...

i cry very often. because of life, because of stupid things and these important ones. the same with songs, espacially the early Queen ones (from Queen I, Queen II etc), and fuck, i dont know why... the same with GN'R, for example Patience... i also cry because its the end of 2005, not 1987 or earlier.

there are thousands of reasons :D i knoooow, too sensitive.

but i can also laugh at EV'RYTHING for hours as well LOL

aint me strange...?
