“We’re going to go out there (to) have fun and play our ... rock show and go from there,” Stinson says. “Anything at this point could happen. As long as we’re having fun doing it, I think we ... do it for as long as we want. That’s kind of our modus operandi right now — go out and have fun and play our songs and make people happy and have a hoot.

“I’m just surprised people want it so much; you open up the floodgate to one show and suddenly you get offers from every ... barbecue stand in the country. But then again nobody’s really expecting us to be anything better or worse than we were 20 years go, so it’s not really that big of a hurdle to jump over.”

The Replacements — who recently released the box set “The Complete Studio Albums 1981-1990” — are still determining what to do with their new material. Manager Darren Hill tells Billboard that the group has recorded “seven or eight” new songs and has plans to do more after the current spate of touring. Stinson, meanwhile, is waiting for Guns N’ Roses to return to duty, while Westerberg also has a solo career.

The two founder members – they are now supplemented on stage by drummer Josh Freese and guitarist Dave Minehan – have markedly different attitudes to their band now. For Stinson, it’s a journey back with “attitude and nonchalance”, the chance to remind everyone that “the charm of the Replacements is that we’re not the greatest musicians on the planet, we’re a great fucking rock’n’roll band.”

Wish I could make it to one of the shows, but it's very unlikely.  :(
