I've come to understand that my preferences in music are related to the person who creates it.

There are bands I like because I enjoy their music.

There are musicians who have the ability to take me on a trip every single time I listen to their music... Axl is one of them.

I still like GN'R because...

...I don;t really hate DJ, I trust nobody would let Ron walk out (in the sense that they'd give whatever he'd need to carry on playing for them in the long run), and all 3 of the Guns gigs I saw were pretty fucking great. Chinese Democracy was excellent for the most part, and as for a new album and the slow rate of work, who cares? There are other bands. I'll be the first to grab whatever clip(s) or tracks surface simply because in my heart of hearts I'm still desperate to hear what else they've recorded.

TLDR titty sprinkles.

There is no question that over the years it has been pretty hard to continue being a Gnr fan with the long awaited Chinese Democracy album, cancelled shows, and constant lineup changes. But the reason I still like Gnr and will always like Gnr is pretty simple. I am 24 years old and have been a diehard fan since I was 12 years old. There original music from there first 4 albums(appetite, lies, and illusions) is my favorite music ever created and will never get sick of listning to it. And even really enjoyed Chinese Democracy considering how long it took to come out. Ive seen the new band twice and both were excellent shows. And in my opnion no one ever has or ever will create music that I enjoy more than Mr. W. Axl Rose.

Because I like Guns N' Roses.

I'm not going to lie though, Axl is a real ass at times.

I will always like GN'R, there one of those bands that were constantly there during most of my childhood so they have a special place for me.

Saying that i don't listen to them much now-a-days, i've heard every song way too much times

I was in hell

I like Guns' music from all era, as I like the live performances of all areas (though since 2002 I see more fails, especially in 2006). There's a lot to say against them, but for some reason, I'm not that bothered with all of that. If I listen to good music, I don't think about how it could be even better with another guitar player or how it was written by someone who's not kind... The effect that the band had and has on me is too big to dislike them.
If an album comes out, then buy it. If there's a concert you can go to, then go to it. You're not owed another record. You're not owed any inside stories. You're not owed the band to be managed by people you approve. It's just electronically recorded vibrations that you happen to like.

Ok, I will respond to this by saying, I am not so sure that I do.

I will always like the music, don't listen to it as much as I use to, but I have been on a huge use Your Illusion kick lately.

I became a fan when I was 14 (2004ish), obviously because of the old band, everything about them. But I became a super fan in the quest for Chinese Democracy, I think a lot of us here were like that. Being a fan of GNR as it stood in the new millenium was like being a fan of the worlds biggest underground band, sure everyone knew GNR but no one fucking new Richard Fortus, or the words to the song Chinese Democracy, or any of that shit. It was fun to be part of something so mysterious, for the first two years I was a fan, the only news, the ONLY news that came out was Bucketheads depature. It's kinda hard to imagine but for a long time Axl Rose was just not fucking around at all, no one would even see pictures of him (remember how big of a deal it was when he showed up Korns cd release party?)

When he finally came back, I was fortunate enough to be there at the Hammerstien and it will always be one of my favorite shows Ive seen, and it was fun to really cheer for Axl and his whole band, to me they were a BAND, Axl, Dizzy, Bumblefoot, Robin, Mothergoose, Tommy, Richard, and Brain. Bumblefoot was the absolute perfect replacement for bucktehead, and in many ways a much better fit (not to mention the coolest fucking dude you will ever meet. And they were back, and Axl was looking and sounding much better and they were kicking major ass in 2006-2007.

And then Chinese Democracy came out, it's a great album, I love it. We all knew it would never live up to the hype, I doubt any album could, but what a fantastic album.

However, it was kind of the end of an era, I think a lot of us were kidn of dissapointed about how there was no real hype about the album, it just came, and then quickly went. No press, no video, no shows. The CD and The Vinyl packages were both REALLY half assed, no new pictures of the band, the only pictures they had were mismatched pics from various tours, no statement concerning the album at all, mispelled and wrong lyrics in the booklet. It was kinda dissapointing, as a fan. Like many things in life.....

The chase was better than the catch.

Which is fine, it was a lot of fun, you combine that with the fact that prior to the album's releas we had already lost Brain and Finck, it just wasn't the same anymore. They hired DJ Ashba and Frank, who are great musicians, but replacing guys as tallented and unique as Robin and Brain? didn't work for me.
And then, just the fucking INFINITE Chinese Democracy Tour, the same set, the same solos, the same pyros in the same spot, the fucking choreographed moves, there presence on social media (I am convinced a 12 year old girl runs there facebook page) Charging excessive amounts for tix (though, in most circumstances they can't control that) and merchandise, jet setting around the world playing private parties and weddings, etc. Axl is just simply out of fucking touch. Whatever it was that drove kids to love GNR when Appetite came out, that's long gone, and it should be. No one expets you to be the same guy you were at 25 as you are at 50, if they do they are insane. Trying to forumlate that old thing in to your arena rock show, it's fun, for a while but for me, it's grown old.

So, I supose that is why I am not as into them as I was, sorry about writing so much, if anybody actually read it all you are awesome.

Listening to Guns right now, all the songs on shuffle, always a SOLID listen, that is why I still like them, well actually it's what got me into really liking/listening to music.  Only really got into them in early 06' but fuck, I still love these tunes!  I know we all do it; nothing like belting out an AXL scream when no one's around!  :troll:

Chickenfoot > Van Halen at the moment.

Because I am waiting for a new fucking album!
This.

But mostly because Ron is still there. If he ever leaves I'm "out" as well. I simply can't take DJ or John 5 playing and dumbing down Ron's and Bucket's parts. So unless Guthrie Govan is the next guitarist, I'll not follow them or at least not on a daily basis - maybe I'd be still interested if Axl released some music, but that'll be it.

Whoa, dude... John 5 can at least play, hate on him all you want, but never put him under the same scrutiny as DJ :yuck

He still wouldn't be able to handle Ron and Bucket, so he'd dumb down their parts I suppose. Unless he's secretely rehearsing their parts for the past few years and wants to debut his new over-the-top amazing technical skills with Guns live. Which, obviously, won't happen. :yao:

off topic but since we're talking about John 5, I stumbled across this just few hours ago:
http://www.buckethead-coop.com/coop/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1197

John basically talking about how he loves Buckethead's way of playing and that he'd love to work with him and Bumblefoot.
