Why do you still like gnr?

Sometimes I feel like their is a lot of hatred and negativity that goes around on this board and in the world in general about new gnr, so why do you still come here? Or why do you still support the band? I'm not aiming this at anyone or anything in particular, just an open topic about why you still call yourself a fan of guns n' roses. No wrong answers, just your opinion.

For me it starts with axl. I feel like even at age 50 he is one of the best singers in rnr. He can out sing and perform most of his contemporaries. Secoundly it is the music, I think chinese democracy was the best album of the last ten years, and I still feel like gnr are a revelant band. They are not like poison or others that are touring based upon what they did 20 years ago, they still have more to offer. And finally I love the current band, they are my fav post slash version of the band. I like every member, and I think they all bring something to the table which helps make gnr great. I know many around here hate ashba, but I really like him. Brining him ito the band helped make gnr seem more like classic gnr imo.

I don't think Chinese Democracy is the best album of the past decade, it isn't in my top 3. The Blues had the potential to be the best song of the decade though.

I guess I'm here because I still think Axl is going to write another Estranged. Chinese Democracy showed signs, but did not bear the fruits of a 14 year absence from music (excluding Oh My God, which was at least raw and exciting... Different)

Oh and cos Sladdi won't let me leave.

If you want to know the truth, the only reason I made this thread is because irs a hot topic on a van halen messafe board. They are trashing the fuck out of gnr. They have there points and reasons, but I hold strong to the fact that this gnr puts on a better show than van halen. And david lee roth is and has always been shitty when compared to axl. Ive seen both bands on this current tour, and gnr blows them off the stage!!! But all vh fans say is its not gnr, axls a dick, no respect for fans and bla bla bla. Despite all that axl will sing roth off the stage, even his own songs!!! So I just wanted to see why others remain true to this gnr.

Been a fan from 88 onwards, from watching the ritz, staying up all evening watching Paris on Pay per view on sky to the present day. Got all albums and got Bootlegs. First gig i went was 93 Milton keens. New GNR 3 times.

Near enough go on this site every other day/every day. I guess my reason is why i still enjoy GNR, is because i find this band/ Axl to be an every day soap opera. You never know or hope what might happen next. Will there be a new leak, will there be a surprise song on the set list. Will Axl end GNR, will there be a new Album mentioned, will a member leave, or have an accident. I find this band to be exciting and sometimes rewarding to be a fan of.

People have been thrashing the shit out of the post slash line-up and Axl for a very long time. Nothing new there. There are some who have a good reason, there are some who jumped on the bandwagon.

Some of the thrashing is just borderline retarded. I’ve read comments of people who say that the current shows suck because a friend of a friend has said that. Or because Slash isn’t in GNR anymore. There was someone at the Graspop concert who said that it sucked because Axl didn’t announce the songs.  :fpalm:

As far as why I still like GNR. The AFD and the UYI albums are incredible and contain some of my favorite songs. And CD isn’t that bad, it has some good songs on it.

I am also a long time fan. Like most I wish they never would have broken up the old band, but axl has always been my fav member of the band so my allegiance tends to be with him. I do though still love and respect all formor members except for steven, matt, and gilby. I dont really care much for them. I still find the current line up to be the next best thing to classic gnr.

I agree but compared to how many guitarists, drummers, and keyboardists that GNR have, not to mention that GNR has their won gay cunt on guitar...  :lol:

I did enjoy CD a lot back in 2008-10, grown a little bit tired of it now. But it was/is a good album in many ways.
The live show I did see in Zuerich Sept 2010 was very enjoyable, so that's another reason why I'm still around.  :)

I have been a fan since the beginning,I still say that axl is the baddest fuckin rock star on the planet.I still like his rock n roll attitude and I still love old songs and current songs.I have seen the new gnr 4 times now and every show was amazing.I also seen gnr back in 92,also amazing.The late starts dont bother me,gives me more time to get another drink,lol.I truly believe they are a great band still and we haven't seen the best yet.No matter how long it takes, i will be waiting for another show,another album,or whatever comes from them.Axl,you are an icon and I respect your talent and also appreciate it. :bow:

Honestly I'm here for the members. I joined back when I was still so passionate about Guns N' Roses but my enthusiasm for the band has certainly waned over the years. I was a member when Chinese Democracy was released and with how excited I was, I feel the album bombed for me. It was unimaginably forgettable and I couldn't even tell you the last time I listened to it in it's entirety.

With the recent live performances I have been excited again, purely on how solid the band are sounding. I would welcome and be excited for new material at this moment but I know enough about Axl to know that holding my breath would be a very stupid idea.

In truth I am here and have stayed here because of members such as Trixi, Nature Boy, Robo, Max, Abbo, Better, Pawnshop, RDS, TSI? and others I'm surely forgetting to mention.

Not the Captain though... He's a sack of shit
