If you would've read one of the books ex-members of Gn'R wrote (there are 3 books meanwhile), you'd know, that Axl Rose wasn't very much involved in the songwriting process. He usually showed up when everything was done, just to lay down his vocals. In Steven Adler's Book for instance is written, that he (Steven), Duff & Slash were working on about 30 tracks for the UYI records in 1989/90 while Izzy never showed up and Axl had no interest in the songs the band was working on at all. Rose was only interested in his one song he came up with: November Rain. Also during the developement of the AFD record Axl was just around partially; the rest of the band used to send Axl the songs on tape. Axl's voice clearly belongs to Gn'R but the soul of the band was the original band, the AFD line up and nothing or none else.
What Gn'R is releasing today is far away from being as classic as the old stuff is. The main difference between AFD and CD is: AFD is rock history, CD is irrelevant and already forgotten.

Well, we all know that you would do ANYTHING to be realted again and again to the GNR name and get a piece of the cake, I guess it's because you can't move on from having fucked up your one chance of making it big in an incredibly powerful band that at one point took over the world . Good luck with your band, just keep in mind that it won't be the next big thing, I don't mean to bring you down, I would like you to succeed, but keep it real bro! I wouldn't like to see you shooting speedballs again and getting back into all that shit.

If anything, he has proven to have integrity. Most of the media is just pissed because he didn't give them the pleasure to write crap about "possible reunion", which would be endless if he performed with the former bandmates.

Yeah, I agree. The talk of a reunion would have never stopped, even though Axl has said over and over again, not going to happen.

The media just like blaming Axl for anything related to GNR. There were 5 members of the original band and all 5 of them have fucked up at one time or another, so why is it that Axl still gets the blame?

I was thinking about how many bands have lost members and have gone on to  continue to make records and tour and yet it seems that Axl still gets shit for moving on and picking other musicians, who happen to be awesome, and continues to make music and tour. It's just unreal.

Axl said as much on The Metal Show. No matter what he says or does, it's damned if he does or damned if he doesn't.

It's like even if Axl is quiet and nothing news worthy happens, they still talk shit about him. Isn't there any real news going on in the world today?

Just release the so called dozens and dozens of CD era songs, finished or not, as a box set online. Close the door on that era and then release an album with the current band. There doesn't need to be a 10 year on again, off again tour in support of the box set. Just put it out and be done with it. Tour in support of the current band and the music that the current band has created.

I'm sure Axl can write a rambling letter to explain this better than I can.
