no, keep in mind he was inducted for the past (AFD/UYI), that was what this one HOF night was about. and he decided NOT to respect that at all, he decided against a proper professional farewell of that important era. and thats what he rightfully is getting blamed for worldwide.
they could have set up it all some fair in advance (like openly agreeing on 1-night-off in press releases, interviews, induction speeches etc.) but he simply didnt want it to happen.
I know the night was about AFD, I'm just saying Axl has made the desicion based on what he thinks is best for him and the band in the future. He did show a lack of respect to ex-members by stating that he doesn't want to be inducted as a member. Not because he didn't show up. And that's what the letter was for, to explain his reasons for not attending the HOF.
Besides most people aren't blaming him for being unprofessional, they are blaming him for destroying the last hope of a reunion. Or that's at least what I gathered from all the -OMFG you're such a douchebag why won't you play with slash- stuff.
You don't have to agree with him, but I do think we have to respect his decision.
