This is why I become GNR fan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPWlbPYfWgM
It was all about AXL, Axl made the band so special not that Slash, slut of yours.
There are lot of New Kids On The Block fans who after their beloved homo-kid band splinted .. they actually become "mature R&R dudes" and referenced themselves as Guns N' Roses fans. I say fuck'em! Take your ugly Slash whore in to your ass ... and don't pollute our GNR environment. Say your thoughts at Slash's forums! I don't give a shit about him and I am not polluting his forums with my pro-Axl stand. In a matter of fact I don't even want to know anything about that dirty lying bitch.

For me it's enough knowing that Axl and Izzy formed this band ... and all others were hired musicians walking in through auditions.
Yeahhhhh

Taxi for this guy, you dont have to pick and choose who was more significant it is a cold hard fact that together axl and slash were unstoppable apart they are quality but are doing nothing overly special.

Yea. Axl made the band so special and thats why CD reached bargain bin status in BestBuy. Axl without other members is nothing. History of so called New GNR proved that.

Can we agree that the entire "classic" lineup was important and due to it's success both the current lineup and the band's ex-members continue to be at least slightly relevant?

Proved what? For me proved that Slash's abilities are overrated. Comparing him with bumblefoot I don't even know why I was sorry for the band split up at first place. Nobody forced slash out of GNR ... he made his own choice... well now there is no turning back. He should have think about that before leaving.
For me CD is pretty awesome peace of art.

Well, the reason you can compare Slash to BBF is pretty simple. Although I love Ron, he has written close to nothing for Guns. Slash wrote the guitar parts to all those songs you know and love, including Estranged, and I think that pretty much says it all. Enjoy the new Guns, as you should, but don't take away from what the old guys did. And to claim that they were all hired musicians apart from Axl and Izzy is an absolute joke, so please don't go there.

Man I don't claim anything, I am telling the facts. Nobody forced Slash out ... he made his own choice. Since band split up they were twisting the truth in their behalf, putting blame on Axl. If Slash is so innocent ... let him tell us why Axl is so bitter on him.
As for the fact that before Slash, Duff and Steven ... GNR had another line up. Very short time but lot of the songs were made already.
Not to mention Matt and Gilby, they were classic hired guns. So what they contributed for band ... so they should be present at that stupid ceremony?

Quote
"As he inducted Guns N’ Roses, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong recalled the first time he saw the band on MTV.

”I thought, one these guys could end up dead or in jail,” he said.

Guns N’ Roses came out both barrels blaring and their debut album ”Appetite For Destruction,” shook a music world that at the time was consumed with pop ballads and dance music.

”It’s the best debut album in the history of rock and roll,” Armstrong said. ”Every song hits hard. It takes you a trip to the seedy world of Los Angeles. The thing that set them apart from everyone else was guts. They never lost their edge for one second.”

Armstrong talked about each of the Guns members, talking about Slash’s mastery and Adler’s pulsive, pounding beats before pausing.

”Let’s see, who am I missing?”

The reference to Rose drew boos and catcalls that Armstrong tried to shout down.

”He’s one of the best frontmen to ever touch a microphone,” Armstrong said.

McKagan and Slash did not mention Rose during their brief remarks but then took the stage with Myles Kennedy, a member of a side project with Slash, singing lead vocals."

And this is another extreme example, albeit in a different direction but just as (or more) annoying.

They all made the band special and not in a thousand years can you say Slash and Duff were hired musicians because they shaped Guns N' Roses probably as much as Axl did. The band we all fell in love with is a true masterpiece and although I believe Axl was the key ingrediant the others (meaning Slash, Duff & Izzy) were just as relevant and important.

Yea. Axl made the band so special and thats why CD reached bargain bin status in BestBuy. Axl without other members is nothing. History of so called New GNR proved that.

That is also a complete bullshit. Chinese Democracy did fairly well considering the histroy and drastic change in the sound. It topped the charts in some countries and it went platinum for selling a few millions which nowadays isn't an easy task. The tours have also been very successful.

You think guys from the old band would be willing to reunite if their current projects were as successful as GN'R were? Do you honestly believe had Velvet Revolver not flopped by the time the second album came out they would give Axl the satisfaction by wanting to return? Do you really think Slash would be so gracious and willing to put it all behind if he was able to headline arenas with his solo band? Not in a million years.

Former members aren't nothing without Axl. And Axl isn't nothing without them. They were simply the best together. None of them achieved that same magic after the split but I would go as far as saying Axl made the best music after the split, but it is also true that he has released the least amount of material.

I'm sorry, but I never mentioned the reasons for Slash leaving the band, so your first point is irrelevant. Regarding the fact that a GnR lineup existed pre-Slash, Steven and Duff, yes you are correct. And yes, a few of the songs were written. But the songs that were written that made it onto Appetite were not only the more throwaway tracks on that record, but they were also markedly different from the versions that Ole Beich, Rob Gardner and Tracii Guns were on. The fact remains that the best tracks on Appetite, Nightrain, Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle, Mr Brownstone, It's So Easy, and Sweet Child O' Mine were all written by the classic lineup. Plus they then cemented the GnR legacy with the Illusion records. Please stop distorting the truth to fit the 'facts' that you hold onto so dearly.

That is complete bullshit! Slight success of CD was because GNR name and 13 years absence from musical scene. If CD released under a name other than GNR that slight success would be gone for sure. But if Velvet Revolver played under GNR name all of us know that they would be more successful than that. Slash want a reunion because GNR brand will secure at least 2 million sales. I m sure if Axl perform without GNR name he could not survive till 2012 in music industry.

Sales would decrease but with a proper promotion and considering the quality of music I think it could do well without the name.

But if Velvet Revolver played under GNR name all of us know that they would be more successful than that.

I don't think so. If the former band without Axl tried to continue as GN'R they would be torn to pieces. Because in GN'R world Axl is more irreplaceable than all others comined.

Slash want a reunion because GNR brand will secure at least 2 million sales.

That's really sad then and kinda proves my point.

I m sure if Axl perform without GNR name he could not survive till 2012 in music industry.

With his way of doing things you may be right. Hard to tell with all the ifs and buts. Without the name Axl would have to work much harder as far as promotion and released material goes.

Any footage?

The live stream only showed the press room and two tv's that showed some of what happened inside on stage but the live sound was good. Real good. HBO broadcast the show in May. So that's why there's no footage. It was a bummer there was no live coverage. That was the idea but HBO did not allow.

I have had such a great night I couldn't get myself to bed: three favorite '80's band, Beastie Boys, RHCP and a incomplete Guns but I couldn't be bothered: that was THE GNR sound...Steven and Matt both played the drums. And Myles Kennedy did hit the high notes in Paradise City
And a little extra was Chuck D another '80's hero  of mine  to introduce Beastie Boys. I hate award shows but I would have give a lot to have been there.....bloody tired though.... :D
