After seeing the current GNR line up live twice I must say that the Original GNR that played at the RNROLL Hall of Fame sounded solid and better than the New GNR with the exception of that singer who sucked, Axl is the King. Slash destroys DJ Ashba and it's not even close. Duff solid as alway's even Steven Adler played good nice to him still have his skills,Gilby Clarke did great also it's a shame Axl didn't show up. Diamond Dave returned with Van Halen and the record sales and tour has been a success, Steve Perry is rumored to be rejoining Journey, come on AXL!

K, I dvr d the Hall of Fame show so I could speed up to GNR.

I thought Green Day did a good job of talking about the original members. I liked when Billy Joe told the people to shut the fuck up when they talked about Axl, although it was more than Axl having the singer ego for not showing up.

I didn't like when he said that you have to go back sometimes to move forward. I think that for the past 20 years Axl has moved forward so even if he did show up, nothing would have changed.

Billy Joe was cool mentioning each member and how amazing they were as a band. No one made a huge deal out of Izzy and Dizzy not being there. Again, Axl is always the bad guy. I guess it'll always be that way. Whatever!

Slash and Duff mentioning the drama was annoying. What drama? Axl didn't show up. He  made a statement as did Izzy, so what drama was there? Did Slash and Duff mean if Axl showed up there would have been major drama? I think those two made more drama with their statements about the so called drama if they showed up, but their wives said oh go for the fans! Yeah, again, it makes Slash look like the good guy. To me they are all full of shit.
They were as much as the cause of all the drama all those years ago when GNR was falling apart due to alcohol and drug abuse, so no one is blameless.

GNR was a great band. The new GNR is a great band. ALL the original members have moved on, so why is it that Axl still gets shit for not reuniting with the original members even for one night?

Whatever happened 20 + years ago must have meant something to Axl that he just can't get passed. I totally understand that. Why can't anyone else?

I think it would have been awesome to see Axl accept his award and I missed him for that, but also respect his reasons for not showing up.

I'm just sick and tired of everyone blaming Axl for whatever goes wrong with GNR. I think Axl's moved on just fine and I'm sure he remembers his past just fine and showing up or not showing up at an award show with the original members of GNR won't change a thing in his life.

also of course it wasn't the same without Axl singing, but even the original members didn't sound all that good to me. Maybe Izzy being missing was a major factor too, but after seeing the new version of GNR, I thought the performance of the 3 original members paled in comparison. Maybe it was just me, but I think they've all lost their mojo when it comes to playing GNR songs, because without Axl and Izzy, it's just not the same!

also, when the Small Faces were inducted, missing was their amazing singer, Rod Stewart, so why wasn't anyone bitching about that?  I've seen the small faces as well as when they became Rod Stewart and the Faces and the song they sang "Stay with Me" was off the album that Rod sang on, so where was he? No one was booing them. Of course they lost two of their members, but without Rod singing, it wasn't the same either. Some people you just can't replace.

Because a lot of people think Axl is the only reason why the classic line up broke up and why there will never be a reunion. And Slash is -partially- to blame for that with all of his bad press over the years.

Axl has become the bad guy. The person you love to hate. Nothing he says or does will change that. People will always find a reason to complain or to critique Axl. If it's not his voice, it's his appearance, the fact that he's aged or that he doesn't like poodles.

Axl doesn't care about it, so don't let it ruin your day.

@Valb22 , mattD :

People are right that when it comes to re-union that Axl IS the only one not being up for that....so off course he is the bad guy in this case, all others (with Izzy being some in question though) would be open for. add that Axl didnt even have the balls to show up at the HOF!! "moved forward"?? he talked his way out with an embarrassing awkward letter just 3 days before the one-time-in-a-life-honour, thats zero integrity!! if he really would have "moved forward" he would have made a statement right after the official induction in November/December(?) 2011, would have finally changed the band name and stopped playing AFD allover!!
Slash and Duff mentioned the drama as they've suffered it aswell...its not just Axl goin through emotions! dont fool yourself, they could have been as big as The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin when staying together and releasing good music....but it didnt happen and the singer doesnt even want it to happen! being full of anger and bitterness for ONE man he hasnt seen or spoken in about 15 years is juvenile childish stupid behaviour and he ruined it for the army of old Guns fans big time!!

"why is it that Axl still gets shit for not reuniting with the original members even for one night?"

because he doesnt want it and insecurely, afraidly dropped out of it about last minute, its as easy as that.

Have you ever bored anyone to death?

edit/answer by Limulus:
just repeatingly setting the record straight again, you dont have to read it or comment on it  ;)

Still haven't answered my question. Just setting the record straight, you don't have to follow Axl and GN'R if this is how you feel. You're are repeatedly ruining the experience for anyone who wants to enjoy it. But you don't care, you're here to point a finger. The official critic of Axl Rose.

At one point you must feel at least a little bit stupid for spending so much time and words on something you clearly don't like. Each to their own, I guess.

I would appreciate if you didn't interfere with my posts. You don't have to be that arrogant. Or was it just a display of muscles? Either way, I consider it laughable.

you didnt get it:
if people want to re-write GN'R history in some weird way or post integrity nonsense regarding the Axl HOF issue i feel free to answer anytime i like and choose to, everybody can do that here pretty much uncensored by the way, this is a free forum. if someone here is into the blind-following "everything-Axl-does-is-great"-thing then he/she might like it better at some other board.

spending too much time on boards coming from you with more than 2500 post here? that pretty much answered it itself  :fpalm:

and the "edit" was not meant to be a power-game, arrogant or whatever. i've thought that a 1:1 post/re-post between you and me isnt too cool to have, we could take it to pm. add that i havent done this too much and wanted to try it again. oh, and yes, i wasted time by this right now   :chan:

back to topic:
i liked the HOF broadcast a lot, too bad they cut "Mr. Brownstone"....anyone knows if the HOF show still is on re-broadcasts? maybe they'll air another version?

No, you didn't get it. I do not understand your ultimate goal. The purpose of you actions, time invested and overall negative comments regarding everything?

I talked about how silly it is to spend so much time enforcing your negative point of view in a place dedicted to current GN'R. Yes, it is a free forum. That still don't make it any less useless. Whatever turns you on.

But to come back with a ''post count'' argument is just ridiculous. It couldn't be further from what I was aiming at when I mentioned time invested. Yes, in the last couple of years I racked up over 2500 posts on this forum. Does someone who I've never met just insulted me for not having a life?  :'(. Seriously?

I'm here because I enjoy Guns N' Roses and everything related to it and I also love english language. I don't know why you're here doing what you're doing but I will repeat again - you are ruining this place for people who want to enjoy the current incarnation.

Please answer thruthfully. Do you ever get the feeling there's much more blind-bashing ''everything Axl does is wrong'' here than the other way around? Taking into consideration individual posters, not the overall pulse.

If the one group of musicians (AKA band) that called themselves GNR wrote, recorded and toured the one and same GNR record (at the same time :smirk:) it might help people accept it as GNR and stop the reunion talk/prayers.
But it didnt happen last time, and for the most part it doesnt look like its going to happen for the next one either.

People like myself may be more inclined to accept the current band if they,I dunno...put an album out?
"BUT YOU GOT THE EPIC MASTERPIECE THAT IS CHINESE DEMOCRACY ONLY 4 YEARS AGO, YOU FUCKING INGRATE!!"
I can almost hear it already...but honestly, if the fucking ridiculous amount of time it took Axl to put his GNR album out is going to be used to make the arguement the next one taking an anywhere near similar amount of time(we are up to 4,no?) is justified is a really sad state of affairs.

The guitarists (Robin,Tobias,Bucket) and drummers (Freese,Brain) that besides Axl were the dominant creative/songwriting forces on the album havent been in the band for years now.
Yes, Tommy,Chris,Richard and of course the ever faithfull Dizzy are still there but you couldnt really say they were the big players on Chinese...would you??

...Ok, Ron and Frank played on CD too-but like 8 years after everyone else...thats not their fault or anything but they just came in right at the end.

A bit of an identity crisis, I can understand why people want the classic lineup because this lineup is basically a covers band, complete with a dodgy Slash impersonator

(Sorry about the coherency)

Indeed, there don't seem to be many good reasons why it's all taking so long this time... There is a pretty constant band that is VERY active, professional and hard working, the corporate and juridical issues seem to be at a minimum now and everyone in the world knows their's lots of material that probably doesn't need much producing at all. I can only hope they  really bring something small out this year, even if it's only about 4 songs. Hell, when the circumstances were way more inconvenient they even managed to play several new songs live.

Once again we play the waiting game. Axl 'll entertain us meanwhile with reliving old songs and sueing one ot two people  :).
If an album comes out, then buy it. If there's a concert you can go to, then go to it. You're not owed another record. You're not owed any inside stories. You're not owed the band to be managed by people you approve. It's just electronically recorded vibrations that you happen to like.

Believe me, if the music (or lack of it) was the only thing Axl was getting bashed for I wouldn't have said anything in the first place. As far as relasing music and who played on what goes we're all on the same page. But that's far from what's going on here. I feel silly defending Axl, because the guy can do just fine on his own, but tell me how tiny are all those people spending hours of each day ripping Axl for everything, from his looks, clothes, business decisions, media presence, releases, letters, hats, personal decisions, lifestyle, personal relationships and it goes on. It's only when you decide to actually discuss something you reduce your discontent to ''who's in the band'' and ''lack of studio output''.

I repeat, I do not understand the utlimate goal or where this constant bashing in supposed to be heading to, whether it's about DJ, his belly, lack of hair, sunglasses, shows or no shows, set-lists and blah blah blah. I wish people didn't spend time on him and GN'R if it makes them feel that way because it is not a discussion but a competition who will come up with supposedly a funny? joke that in all honesty isn't really funny.

It's obvious by now Axl won't do the right thing and suddenly come around in every aspect of his life. If there's some sort of satisfaction in ripping Axl then by all means do it and I don't mean just you inparticular. But that's what's tiny to me.

Please answer thruthfully. Do you ever get the feeling there's much more blind-bashing ''everything Axl does is wrong'' here than the other way around? Taking into consideration individual posters, not the overall pulse.

does it come to your mind that negative comments can be based because something IS just negative?
the awkward Axl behaviour with the HOF and fans of the AFD/UYI fans was a huge downie for tons of us. its as easy as that, and i've chosen not to just ignore but to comment on it. others dont say anything, others are more in the bashing game, so what? people are different, so are fans!

ruining it for fans who want to enjoy it? there probably is truth in it for the blind-Axl-followers category of fans, even for Axl himself as he would LOVE everyone to "move on" with the HOF thing...smth. he mentioned in the 1st letter before the HOF even happened. so disappointed fans should just shut up, yes? or we should just turn around and support everything he does just to keep going? eh! people can feel free NOT to read any negativity or contstructive critics, there are other boards, too! same goes for any fan off course.
you kinda comment on lots and lots of issues...you think everyone enjoys all your posts jumping on every discussion? i've already pointed it out to better do it by pm when its a 1:1 discussion with me...which you've chosen to ignore so. if you continue to do so i dont think i'll openly respond to you much more after this one.

i could care less with how many posts you have, it wasnt an "life"-attack or whatever you've made out of it. it just came down to you asking me why spending time on this when you did much more, thats it. but as we're into this: (not that its from big interest to me but) i'm not sure since when you've been in this forum and since when you've been around and stuff, but as for me i've been in this forum not too long after it started and became some kind of friend with the admin (we were the first to record/transfer and spread the vma02 high quality audio by the way. oh, and by the way i saw GN'R live in 1991 with Izzy). back then (2001/02) it was some different with information, we've hardly had anything regarding the new band, let alone new music or any form of video! that changed over the years, unfortunately not in a cool direction (to me), basically starting with the CD album and lots of Axl's decisions and his voice problems. that being said i did enjoy lots of the new stuff, too, incl. the decision for the more recent 3x webcasts 2011/12. so its not "just negative", i'm just still around and do post some here and there. and i really rate the basically non-censorship from high value on this board. add that the more you're calling '"negative" posts to me are more objective and realistic as you probably would ever agree.
