Was this an April Fools joke that was copypasted by a website a day late and so was regarded as being news? In the same vein as Metallica 'splitting'?

I wish it was..

But it's even on the RNRHOF website.  :tear:

this

"While Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum have all indicated they'll be present at the April 14th ceremony in Cleveland, members Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin and Dizzy Reed have yet to publicly confirm their attendance."

aint true:

"I know that all the original band is going to be there," keyboardist Dizzy Reed, the longest-standing member of the current GNR and an inductee that night, tells Billboard.com. "I don't know exactly what's going to go down. It's one of those things I'm sure will all come together and be really cool. I'm just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart."

I think Axl will also show up. He said nothing which points at him not going. Mentioning that he knows it's important for the fans.

How weird,

I used to hate Green Day as when ever I used to check out CD's in record stores, The GN'R section always had a stray Green Day CD in it and I used to think Who the Fuck are they.

Now this!

As much as I like Green Day's music, they shouldn't be the one's inducting Guns N Roses into the R&R HOF because their two different genres of music and to me it just seems a little weird. If I'd want anyone to induct Guns N Roses into the R&R Hall Of Fame,my choices would be Elton John (Considering Axl inducted him into the R&R HOF as well as he's played with Axl/Guns N Roses in his career) or get Sebastian Bach to inducted GNR since he has a long history with Axl as well as Guns from time to time....They would be my choices over Green Day....what does Green Day and GNR have in common....nothing! They are two different genres of music and it just doesn't fit well together.Same with Chris Rock inducting RHCP'S.....yeah sure Chris Rock is funny as hell but again get someone who has a history with the band, not a comedian but Chris Rock should blow the roof off the place hehe...Can't wait to see it on HBO on May 5th! Chris Rock's induction speech will be my excitement for the night if GNR don't perform on stage....which I highly doubt they will if the original 5 aren't all there....Slash,Axl,Izzy (he said he wasn't even going),Duff and Steven then it won't even matter so I'll just see what happens and hope for the best but with Izzy not even going,it won't be worth it to do a performance because this night is about the original 5 lineup getting inducted...not the original 4 + (INSERT OTHER GNR RHYTHM GUITARISTS HERE).But hey it'll be nice to recognize GNR for the last 25+ yrs of great music...They deserve it.Good Luck Boys!

I'd also prefer Liam but I also like Green Day.

It's obviously Green Day because they're a full band that's respected. This way if Guns N' Roses doesn't play (which they won't, I guess) there's another band there, which as I said is generally respected, that will be willing to play, no problem.

How about someone who actually is a legend, like Alice Cooper?

Allthough it doesn't really fit at all it's indeed a well respected band. They are very succesfull and can headline any festival they want to.

This will definetly lure attention, so I really hope there will happen something worthy  :(.
If an album comes out, then buy it. If there's a concert you can go to, then go to it. You're not owed another record. You're not owed any inside stories. You're not owed the band to be managed by people you approve. It's just electronically recorded vibrations that you happen to like.

I honestly thought it would have been Aerosmith doing it, seeing as how Guns had that close relationship with them and seemed to be the 'successors', if you will. I cannot tell you in words how underwhelmed I am at Greenday doing the induction :smirk:

Liam Gallagher would have been a better genuinely surprising choice; a volatile edgy character akin to the ethos of Appetite/UYI Guns N’ Roses. Green Day, like the Foos, are that corporate, mainstream act everybody expects to be somehow included in the celebrations.
