Which Guitarist would you most enjoy for a darker Gn'R?

Dave Navarro for sure.

He's a great guitar player, no mega virtuoso that can play piruriru picksweeping 300 notes per second, but he has the goods and delivers. His guitar work with Jane's Addiction has been great and I live what he did with the Peppers -One Hot Minute is by far their darkest and most interesting album- and Deconstruction was GENIUS (even if that's big part Eric Avery).

Axl wanted Dave in GNR in the beginning of the band. Dave and Slash were THE 2 well known guitar players in LA in the mid-late '80s. In the end, Dave agreed to tour with them later when GNR were STADIUM big, but he just didn't show up because at that time in his life he was too fucked up on heroin.

Im not taking anything away from bucket but obviously you guys dont know yngwie that well. Dude is as good as it gets, im not saying hes my favorite, but hes freaking amazing, if you guys dont see that then I feel sorry for you. Ill say this yngwie could play buckets shit way easier than bucket could play his.

downsizing Yngwie to basically praise Bucket isnt right. They all did the same when Ron joined just to make sure that every GnR fan would agree with that. Happily most of us didnt buy that though. Malmsteen is a guitar god that influenced several other guitar gods over the years. And that certainly didnt happen because he only could play faster tha most and nothing else. I do agree that he plays faster.than what I would like to hear from him - wankery? - but he is not all about that.

Surely DJ Ashba will take GNR to new levels of darkness-crows,product,scarves,hats,eyeliner,lippy,max factor 28,swag,frilly undies and what have you

Still have to hear what Ashba has to offer in terms of songwriting... I haven't bothered to listen to any of his music other than his part in GN'R. Hopefully whatever he puts into the next record will make it stand out.
