I know this is gonna start an argument but buckethead wishes he was half as good as yngwie. Ive seen that dude in concert and he blows satriani and vai off the stage. And lets face the facts, buckethead is no joe satriani or stave vai. Buckethead is great, no argument there, but he isnt in that true guitar virtusos tier.

Since we are all just throwing names out there, why not Jimmy Page? I know he's up there in age now, but slash always wished he was as good as Page. And honestly nobody plays a darker sounding guitar than Mr. Zoso. Dazed and confused, no quarter, in my time of dying, in the light, in the evening, just to name a few, buckethead or anyone else you all mentiined doesn't have shit on those songs. Page was the master of atmospheric guitar playing. Of course no way in hell this would ever happen, but it would be awesome to see axl singing imigrant song or see Page play this I love. I would take that over a zep or gnr reunion!!!

You're on drugs man. Yngwie consistently plays as fast as he can. Every damn song. Boring.

Buckethead's music has texture and rhythm as well as being played at a frenetic pace at times. Bucket is God tier bro, Yngwie was revolutionary for 5 weeks in the 80s alongside EVH.

I remember when Mustaine or maybe it was Jeff said he tried out Loomis for Megadeth when Chris Poland left and that Loomis fucking blew him away, but because he was like 15-16 he was deemed too young.. Can you imagine the power house Megadeth would've become? No offence to everyone that has come since, Jeff Loomis can fucking play.

In what sense does he blow satriani ,vai & bucket of the stage?? To me he's just another guitar wanker,haven't been producing nothing of interest and soul since ever!He's a dam good guitarist, don't get it wrong , but its just the same as comparing Knopfler to Page. Different, but equally talented!

Im from scandinavia aswell so i know him pretty good.. Its just a matter of taste..but yeah he's incredible gifted ,no doubt about that

Dave Navarro for sure.

He's a great guitar player, no mega virtuoso that can play piruriru picksweeping 300 notes per second, but he has the goods and delivers. His guitar work with Jane's Addiction has been great and I live what he did with the Peppers -One Hot Minute is by far their darkest and most interesting album- and Deconstruction was GENIUS (even if that's big part Eric Avery).

Axl wanted Dave in GNR in the beginning of the band. Dave and Slash were THE 2 well known guitar players in LA in the mid-late '80s. In the end, Dave agreed to tour with them later when GNR were STADIUM big, but he just didn't show up because at that time in his life he was too fucked up on heroin.

And well, years later there's Oh My God...

downsizing Yngwie to basically praise Bucket isnt right. They all did the same when Ron joined just to make sure that every GnR fan would agree with that. Happily most of us didnt buy that though. Malmsteen is a guitar god that influenced several other guitar gods over the years. And that certainly didnt happen because he only could play faster tha most and nothing else. I do agree that he plays faster.than what I would like to hear from him - wankery? - but he is not all about that.

Still have to hear what Ashba has to offer in terms of songwriting... I haven't bothered to listen to any of his music other than his part in GN'R. Hopefully whatever he puts into the next record will make it stand out.
