So, GN'R are coming to play in the fantastic riverside venue that is known as the Echo Arena

Located on the prestigous Kings Dock site you will not find yourself short of options when it comes to things to see and do. A stones throw away from the arena you will find the historic Albert Dock. Home to The Beatles Story(museum)

Quote
Welcome to the Albert Dock

Pay a visit the Albert Dock and delight in the most popular of Liverpool's attractions, restaurants, bar, boats and tours. Enjoy the best the city has to offer, showcased in a World Heritage, waterfront setting.

The Albert Dock is the most popular free tourist attraction in the Northwest -and not without good reason. The variety of events, attractions and eateries make it perfect for family fun, a day or night out in Liverpool, or your base for a short break in the city. Situated in the largest group of Grade I listed buildings in the UK, the Albert Dock houses two hotels - the Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express - as well as many award winning visitor attractions.

The Dock is the home of Tate Liverpool, the award-winning Beatles Story, Merseyside Maritime Museum and the International Slavery Museum.

You can join a number of enlightening and exhilarating Liverpool tours, including a city and water tour on The Yellow Duckmarine or the Yellow Boat Cruise around our south docks.

There's also a great selection of Liverpool bars and restaurants including the Revolution Bar, What's Cooking? ,Circo, Blue, Gusto, PanAm Bar and Restaurant, Miller and Carter Steakhouse, Vinea and Spice Lounge. Now that's food for thought.

To find out what's on at the Albert Dock, visit our What's On? section for an exciting calendar of family activities and days out.

If you want to indulge in a bit of shopping then you need only to walk for 5 minutes (from the arena) to sample the magnificent shopping experience that is Liverpool One

Liverpool One is effectively an outdoor mall centred around a landscaped park. Shops, bars, restaurants, cinema....take your pick.

The bars and restaurants of the Albert Dock are great places, but be warned, they are a bit pricey. Personally I'd recommend hitting Matthew Street for a fucking great night out, or maybe try one of the "super-clubs" Cube and/or Cream.

Personally, my favourite bar is The Rat & Parrot. A traditional pub that takes up 3 floors and offers 2 outdoor seating areas (one to the rear of the second floor and one roof terrace.) A few years back, myself and a couple of buddies decided to visit a different pub each dinner hour, until we had visited every pub in the city centre. We gave each pub a score out of ten and The Rat & Parrot won comfortably. Good ale, nice food, reasonably priced, several pool tables and even an x-box with two pads and a selection of games.

For hotels, well, you are spoiled for choice but if you want a unique experience then you might want to stay in the Beatles themed hotel A Hard Days Night if you can afford it.

Finally, if you find yourself on a street that has a rainbow on the street sign(s) then you have wandered into the "gay quarter" in which case you might either want to run away or drop your trousers.

So, for those Gunners who are visiting Liverpool, I hope you have a fuckin' great time, and if anybody has any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I hope, I do not wait.

This is a great post - It makes me want to visit (not sarcastic). As a port, is there a maritime museum?
If one went into The Rat & Parrot, standard pub fare on the menu? What do you usually order? I guess I thought of that because I am hungry at the moment.

Yes, there's a fantastic maritime museum located in the Albert Dock. Actually, we are spoiled for choice in terms of museums and galleries.

Not listed on that website are The Beatles Story and Tate Liverpool (art gallery.)

As for food in The Rat & Parrot: Yeah, it's the same sort of food on offer in pubs all over the country. I usually go for the all day breakfast.

There's only one place you need to visit in Liverpool, Johan.
