Guns N' Roses - Theatre Show # 2 Terminal 5, Feb. 12th
« on: February 12, 2012, 06:55:42 PM »
All media and Concert discussion, previews and reviews here...

will be doing updates again tonight (Getting info however I can come about it... my buddy Trevor is at The show but I highly doubt he will be taking the time to text me...

This is no necessairly what I want but it's what i'm predicting and that is once again there will be no Chinese Democracy, Live and Let Die or Shacklers Revenge because all those songs require a lot of effects and pyro!

Not expecting any new material to be played either but hopeful they might include something different in the set list like Yesterdays, Out Ta Get Me, Oh My God or Your Crazy.... but i doubt any of that will happen either but regardless i'm sure the people that pay to see the show will be impressed with whatever they play!

Ok, the CD set list is totally back now, even in the standarized form without any surprises. I hope something will change for the summer.

Thx for the updates, Sajus !
If an album comes out, then buy it. If there's a concert you can go to, then go to it. You're not owed another record. You're not owed any inside stories. You're not owed the band to be managed by people you approve. It's just electronically recorded vibrations that you happen to like.

It blows my mind about how many people bitch about the setlist. They JUST added Estranged and Civil War! We've been begging for those for ages and they finally did it and people are already unsatisfied.

I don't follow any band the way I do with GN'R, and I was wondering if there are many high profile bands out there who just randomly belt out new songs without previously releasing them?
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think
Oh by the way, which one's Pink?

Haha, solid man, very true, U2 didn't randomly play a new tune when I saw them, and neither did KISS, Paul Rodgers, Blue Oyster Cult, the list goes on, only guy was Sean Paul

I think what most people are referring to when they say they want to hear new songs is old songs that the new band has never done before, like Yesterdays, or Perfect Crime, etc.

Those are 2 of my favourites off of Chinese Democracy, two amazing songs. But I agree I'd like a few other songs from Chinese, what about Prostitute and Rhiad or even Scraped (even though I'm not a fan of Scraped but the other 2 songs,I'd be all for playing).

A jam on that classic ZZ Top tune (whispers simple but very catchy riff)

Well, I wasn't that negative, just analyzing. The setlist is ok (I allways considered this to be a great setlist), but just hoping some other old or new songs would make the setlist before I'd see them in june. It's great to see this live but even greater to see them doing something else live!
I didn't expect any new material, and frankly I don't know if I'd like it when they'd play something never heard before on a concert I attend. I guess I wouldn't really get the song, than listen to it at home, really like it but only remember something chaotic from the live version as I couldn' follow  :(...
Let's hope for a single / elpee  !

I've seen Metallica and Symphony X play a new song before album release and Guns N' Roses like 5 new songs  ;)

GN'R have a histroy of playing songs before they were released, but back then it was quite a different story.

The right answer to my question would then be "few, very few."  :D

Despite venue disorganization and staff confusion, the VIP system worked and my wife & I got in 20 or so minutes early and grabbed a second level rail spot right above DJ.  We had uninterrupted sight lines with DJ spending most of the show just fifteen feet away from us--except during 'Nightrain' when he climbed on top of an amp and soloed six feet to my right!!  Then he jumped off as shown in the pic!  The sound was highly variable, Axl being slimed in the mix much towards the second half.  No matter, the band was in fine form and we are so psyched to do it all over in Atlantic City.

Just one thing I'd like to add...

When Ashba joined I was really skeptical... An emo dude? Eye liners? REALLY?

After seeing him with the band and him being here for 3 years now I've grown accustomed to him. I'm not fooling myself that he is higly relevant as a musician or is of any significance for the future of the band. However, he has proven to be a good friend of Axl, he respects the band and it's heritage and has a good stage presence. Sure he enjoys the spotlight, but this is what these guys live for.

Anyway, I've always had a "problem" with members of the band promoting solo material with the Guns N' Roses name. Some do it more, some do it less. For example I don't think Sex Tapes, a project involving Chris Pitman, ever had any association with GN'R. I respect that. Suposedly Buckethead's idea was to use GN'R to promote solo efforts.

Moving on to my point. This is nothing against Ron Thal. I like him and want him to stick around. But I don't understand how DJ is constantly trashed for whoring himself with the GN'R name while Bumble's ventures are so often overlooked.

This is not Ron VS. DJ, just a general wondering of mine.

I agree with most of it. Dunno whether Bucket promoted himself on GN'R back though 'cause i missed the GN'R period with him.
In connection to the last thing about Ashba and Ron, I think that Ron's not that much bashed for promoting himself via GN'R as Ashba because of his attitude and air. He's not posing like Ashba and he seems a modest & involved with the band guy hence he gets away with it and Ashba doesn't.

Ron spent a lot of time working with Poc on that album, and since Ron has been in the band 6 years now I think he has contributed enough to say he is a member of the band? DJ hasn't done shit but be a touring musician. There's a difference. Bumblefoot can be heard on CD.

Fair point, but I think that the attitude towards Ron has been the same in 2006 or 2007, when he was also just a touring musician.
