Thoughts on Van Halen reunion and new stuff?

Dunno.  Can't say I found it overly exciting. DLR and his Charlie Chaplin moves, and Eddie looks like he aged 40 years. And weird seeing 'Wolfgang' on Bass rather than Michael Anthony.

Going to wait for other material passing judgment, but my first impressions aren't overly inspiring.

Sounds pretty formula to me, breaks no new ground.

People can say what they want about Axl, but he has never sold out, and has insisted on 'evolving' his music.

Alot of these groups, i.e. AC/DC, Aerosmith etc, missed that memo

I dont mind the song at all.

Its hard to take that little tub of lard instead of Michael Anthony though, and Daves still a wanker...but its ok.

another new song they played live is a direct re-hash of a 1976 demo.

Its cool to hear the brothers doing something, I wrote off VH on principle as a teenager, years later I actually listened to the albums and they have done some brilliant shit.

Id much rather Sammy and Michael to DLR and fatboy, but I dont think this song sucks too bad.

Even in their current state, Van Halen still kick a lot of other bands asses

Im actually really excited for it. Ya sure the song is no panama or running with the devil, but its just as good as say girl gone bad, on fire, or any other album cut, shouldnt of been a single though. I just think its funny , when sammu was in the band everyone wanted dave back, now that he is back everyone wants sammy.  I like both guys but I wanna see this thing out. Besides both sammy and dave write shit lyrics these days. I mean the chickenfoot stuff is great misocally but not a single good song lyrically. Sammy is the better singer, but with dave they can play all the great van halen tunes, and id rather have that. And we gotta keep this in perspective, I like gnr more and I think the current gnr line up is a better band than van halen is at this point, but van halen will draw bigger crowds, I guarentee that.

Eddie did alright in this song but the vocals and the rest just sound rubbish. There's no rhythm, nothing catchy, nothing impressive.... It's shit.

Tattoo really hasn't grown on me. Maybe it will, but as of now, I don't really know what to think of it. But I can't wait for their tour and to hear their new album.

the thing about van halen that a lot of people might be missing about the new song is that with roth they never wrote anything incrediably important lyrically. They were just a kick ass have fun party band, ao in that reguard tatoo kinda,fits right in. but I agree it prolly shouldnt have been the first single. Not gonna get anything lyrically pwerful like sorry or this I love on this album thats for sure. But if shes the woman is any indication it could be a fun little rnr record, which is,exactly what ban halen is.

Im actually going to see them next month in detroit and im super excited. I saw,gnr last month, now van halen next month, at this rate aerosmith and acdc shoild be next. And dare I,say some sort of pink floyd and led zeppelin reunions for the simmer time and it wojld be the greates year ever for xoncerts!!! Heres to hoping.
