Scrubs doesnt really fit in with the rest...some of their earlier episodes are near flawless, especially the ones the have comedy and drama in the same episode. For example My Screw Up and My Lunch are easily two of the best sit com episodes ever recorded.

Well, I can agree on The Wire and Breaking Bad, hence the part in my last post about HBO giving us quality shows. They also gave us Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

Wait... you watch Breaking Bad? :O

I agree with JP, I grew up with this shit and they've shaped my comedic sensibilities. Fawlty Towers is possibly the most perfect comedy ever created (helps it was so short)
Fuck Cork and all Cork related things

Well to each their own, but personally I find Scrubs a massive bag of wank

The BBC =

This is why I am glad to pay for a television license. We don't get that (apologies for this comment) crap 'comedy' that Americans get, and better still, we get it without all the sponsors.

Yeah, fuck American culture.  :fpalm: :shy:

Good spot. Can't think why I would have put that - got a bit carried away I think. Bloody yanks, impinging on my culture with their nonsense. AND I CAN'T HELP BUT USE IT! ARGHHHHHH :'(
I think it is high time for a bit of class around here, don't you?

I'd give Americans their more serious shows like The Wire, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos etc, but aside from very very few exceptions their comedy is horrendous.

Two and a Half Men? How I Met Your Mother? The Big Bang Theory? Scrubs? These shows are not just all terrible but they are crimes against humanity.

I am an American, and I do not watch any of the sitcom crap! Please do not judge all of us as mindless idiots : ) I do like Family Guy, as well as the old Simpsons and Seinfeld re runs. House is a great drama with some comedy. The Soprano's was a tremdous series!  I like The Tudors as well. I wish they would come out with a new season of Being Human. I was able to get it on BBC America. I watch mostly BBC America, The History Channel, Sundance Channel,  Independent Film Channel, Biography, VHI Classic, etc. MTV has become a rerun of jackasses called Jersey Shore, which I am sure you already know.
I noticed no one mentioned Monty Python and the Flying Circus, the HOLY GRAIL of British comedy imo!
Some of my favorite lyrics:
All the world's indeed a stage, and we are merely players
On a good day, I know it ain't everday, we can part the seas
If ya wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes, you'll just have to claw your way through this disguise
History hides the lies of our Civil War

Don't judge all American comedy on the dross you see on Comedy Central and E4. There are some genuinely great ones, like Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Community, Party Down, Curb Your Enthusiasm to name a few.

some of my favourite british comedies:

The Office
Father Ted
Only Fools & Horses
Blackadder
I'm Alan Partridge
Bottom
The Inbetweeners
Brass Eye

still need to get around to watching Spaced and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

You haven't seen Spaced or Darkplace? :O Get on it! Spaced is genuinely one of my all time favourite shows, and Darkplace is just genius.
