Manic/Depression is quite common, often manageable and conducive to extraordinary creativity and impetus . Manifestations are often unique to each individual and not necessarily requiring pharmaceutical medication. Treatment and coping techniques per design and desire of the person afflicted are encouraged. To each HIS OWN WAY.
I personally know well a number of people with "Manic/Depressive disorder" who regularly use music, art, athletics, etc as opposed to pharmaceuticals medication although pharmaceuticals work quite well for some people. They have peaks, valleys and lull periods just like most other people except sometimes they are extra powerful. Yeah, so what. As I said, it is quite common.
