If Slash and Duff came back, then they either go back to 2 guitar player and should only keep Fortus, to recreate the rhythm/lead division from the classic line-up (and later on with Gilby). If they keep 3 guitar players they should keep Ron, first of all for the complex leads on the newer stuff. DJ is totally obsolete if Slash would return. 

They'd have to kill Frank too because he's honestly not a very good drummer.

Who knows, it's like comparing apples with oranges.

Slash doesn't fit with the overall sound of CD but I can see him playing on a few songs and making a positive contribution but it's impossible to know if it would be better than what ended up on CD.

If Slash was involved instead of Buckethead then it would have been a totally different album.

I don't think Slash could play Bucketheads parts to the same standard as Buckethead because its just not his style.

Having said that if Slash was involved and had a degree of control, more then Buckethead, Finck, Tommy, etc then I'm pretty sure CD would have been released many years before its actual release and would have cost a lot less. It probably would have been received and sold better but the quality of it would of course be undetermined.

If Slash played on Chinese Democracy I don't think it would sound as good.
That type of record is not his style so he might of found it difficult to find his rhythm.

Sure we would he thrown out solos like the one in This I love and maybe even Twat, but the majority of the album would be completely different so I personally prefer that he's not on it. I like the direction Guns are going in currently and if Slash was there he would just disturb it and send it backwards.

I find Slash has his own playing style and sound, and he's pretty good at it.

The problem with Slash is that that's all he does, I don't see much innovation or versatility in his work (over 20 years of career).

What I like about Chinese Democracy is the shifts in style and the departure from the old GNR sound -although it still keeps some of its essence.

It took Axl a long time, but he's a visionary and came up with a great album that captures different influences. He's not afraid to venture into new territories and give it a try. I think that's one of the main conflicts with the old line-up... while some (if not all of them except Axl) wanted to keep doing the same, he wanted to explore a bit... and I'm glad he didn't give up. I love all GNR albums, but Chinese Democracy is BY FAR the most interesting to listen to, at least in terms of what I value in music.

Potentially, but I do think Contraband gives it a good run
