Slash did have moment of brilliance in his post-Guns career, but I would agree he never reached that magical thing again.

That magical thing ended in 1993 and it's totally fine by me. Neither Axl nor Slash reached that magical thing again.

A fair bit of CD sounds just like the UYI albums anyway, street of dreams for one...take out the bucket solo and you would think it was the old band.

Well, we all have different opinions. Mine is very different from yours in that I think Contraband is a fantastic album. It sounds like a modern rock album rather than trying to re-invent Guns n' Roses, and succeeds brilliantly. In my opinion, of course.
How about a pint of me?

What if? What a useless thread! On the other hand what else is there to talk about since no new material shows up  :coffee

Edited: or is it useful to bash Slash? He does not let his fans down and shows up on time with respect for his fans who did pay to attend his gigs. And he's productive and does enjoy life. The most brilliant thing to do in life for everyone no matter what you do.

Yes because every other thread on this forum is just ripe with usefulness and knowledge
This is simply a revenge mission by the US on Libya.  This will teach them a lesson for attacking Doc Emmett Brown in Back to the Future....... Damn Libyans

According to his side of the story. According to Axl Slash wasn't really productive when Guns N' Roses were falling apart. Axl said Slash wanted to go solo and take over Guns N' Roses. The material was weak, the first Snakepit record confirmed that, and Axl was told no lyrics and no melodies.

Maybe Axl hasn't been as productive but his philosophy has never been to put out anything you've written, only the music you're fully confident in. By leaving GN'R and Axl in 1996 he let down millions of fans.

Wait a minute, I'm sorry. None of that is true, Axl is a liar by default. The media said so.  :paranoid:

PS - I fucking love Slash before anyone gets the wrong impression. He wrote some of the most amazing stuff and I've never judged him too much for his sometimes stupid bussiness decisions or collaborations. Slash is da man. Just wanted to oppose the idea of him being flawless when it comes to fans and releasing music.
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think

IMO if Slash was involved in ChiDem, probably the album would have been less industrial and more Rock N' Roll sounding.

i think that everything Slash has done post VR is fucking dire. Myles Kennedy has one of the most annoying voices I've ever heard- and now he's recording an album with that guy. IMO the bottom line is that GN'R is one of those bands that was far greater than the sum of its parts, like Zeppelin, or the Beatles. They just so happened to end up in a band where all of the musician's individual styles complimented each other perfectly. Can you imagine what Appetite would have sounded like had Tracii Gunns played lead instead of Slash? Or Rob Gardner on drums instead of Steven.
LEAVE IT OUH!!!
