Axl Rose and his mates
« on: August 17, 2011, 08:37:20 AM »
I have a question.

Beside the "old" gunners, this is another topic, and yeah - all of them came back - at least on stage, Izzy 2006, Duff 2010, Matt talked positive about Axl:

what the hell is with the other Gunners? Is Axl really such an fuckin' asshole? ?

I mean, how comes:

Josh Fresse (OUT - 99)
Paul Huge Tobis (OUT - 01) - ok, let's take it this way - he didn't like the touring - but after three shows??
Buckethead (OUT - 04)
Robin Finck (OUT - 08)
Brain (OUT - 08) - is it really just the fact he became dad?

I mean, people, this fuckin' 5 people could be a whole band, this are such great musicans, no one gets ANY informations, why did they leave. They must have contracts not to say one single word.

The only reasonable thing could be it's just impossible to work with Axl, what do you mean?
hell "freud" might say that's what i need - but all i ever really get is greed. ("right next door to hell")

Isn't it normal people to come and go?

Never heard of John Fresse being a GN'R member :shy:

The same can be said for Slash you ignoramus. Snakepit and VR were fairy tales were they?

You're looking in from the outside, but not just outside, you're on the other side of the fucking world trying to analyze shit from the past on a computer. Life's slightly more complicated mate.

He is probably not the easiest to work with :giggle:. But people left for a myriad of reasons, not all because of Axl.

He was a member from about 98-2000 or so. He never played any show, but he played on the 'Oh My God' song, co-wrote 'Chinese Democracy' and worked on the drum arrangements for a lot of the album (he"s listed in the album credits)

I think she was joking because of the name misspell :), but even AFD has very little information on Freese and I haven't been able to get an interview with the man, sadly.

As someone once said: the reasons why people change are as different as the people themselves.

Probably, Axl is not always easy to work with. Surely, the machinations around a huge band like GN'R can lead to frustrations.
Then again, you have Dizzy Reed who stayed with Axl & band since 1990!! And Stinson, who's stayed since '98. And Pitman, and Fortus... Guess they are "mates" to him rather than others who quit.

You're looking in from the outside, but not just outside, you're on the other side of the fucking world trying to analyze shit from the past on a computer. Life's slightly more complicated mate.

Aw, come on, he named himself after Freud, he knows a lot obviously.  :D  ;)

Thanks for the info

I'm not joking & I do tend to mispell names :shy:

On topic: Most musicians that have worked with Axl recently said he's managable & not that difficult to work with. Besides Sorum said in an interview that considering what happened to VR, he and other ex-members have started questioning at last whether the whole responsibility of GN'R break-up should be placed only on one person. Moreover musicians develop, you can't expect all of them to stay in one place forever. Not that I'm saying Axl is not a jerk. He's proved he is one but IMO can't be blamed entirely for musicians coming and leaving GN'R. I won't blame him if he kicks Ashba but that's not very likely to happen.

he named himself after a man who admitted to having sexual feelings for his mother and a phobia of castration...i dunno what you know of psychology but Freud is considered a crazy pervert by just as many as would name him a genius. And the fact that there are other models that work better than psychodynamic probably hasn't helped that opinion.
Apparently a new Amy Winehouse 'Greatest Hits' collection is coming out, but the tinfoil and spoons aren't included.

Yeah, OP I had a dream about my mother gatecrashing my wedding last night...care to explain?  :ninja:

Nah, I stdied Psychology for two years at college, I kind of agree with Freud's idea of represseddesires and images, but I don't agree that it's all sexual, as he seems to suggest. The most annoying thing about Psychology and all the theories I learnt is that although there is strong evidence for each theory, there is jst as much evidence against it.

Example: Freud suggests dreams are hidden, symblic sexual desires. This could be seen as true in Freud's time, as sex was not widely discussed and seen as a very 'private' thing, so people would therefore have to repress their ideas and urges, which then come out in dream form. However, it's known that foetuses in a mother's womb dream...now what do they dream about, why would it be sexual, and why would it be symbolic?
