I agree that The Old Republic is one of the few good things about the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

I still think to this day that the prequels should've been similar to this game. Think about it: A Republic with an already-established army of stormtroopers (not clones) being lead by a shitload of Jedi who are battling an already-established Empire with their own unique clone army lead by a shitload of Sith.

As the clone wars end Anakin can be seduced to the dark side by viewing the Sith as some kind of cult or gang that allows him to develop his powers without the boundaries of the Jedi (that "doing it for love" shit was stupid). After helping the Empire wipe out the Republic and Jedi and take its army, Anakin's lust for more power can lead him to destroying the other Sith right before that battle with Obi-Wan that turn him into Darth Vader and then the Rebels form :D

other things that make The Old Republic better than the prequels include: No Jar Jar Binks, useless battle droids, racist aliens, confusing politics, little kids, moody teenagers, genocide, child slaughter, random love, cgi suits and most importantly: no plot holes!

What was wrong with genocide in the prequels i agree with some of your points but Revenge of the Sith kicked ass but the other two were shit...

SWOTR looks pretty decent but i suppose for the £200million spent building it it will have to be, apparently they won't release a release date because they're afraid world of warcraft will one up them though.
Apparently a new Amy Winehouse 'Greatest Hits' collection is coming out, but the tinfoil and spoons aren't included.

genocide refers to when Anakin killed a whole tribe of Sand People in Attack Of the Clones

Revenge Of the Sith was just okay, better than the other two but nowhere near as good as the original trilogy.

and a younger person would have the opposite opinion. It's not that the first were better in my book it's that they were culturally more significant all 6 films have their merits and they all have some very irritating draw backs, the original 3 had poor effects in comparison to what passes for effects today and some of the acting was cringe worthy, star wars episode 1 was flawed beyond belief, clone wars was a good film but i didn't feel it did anything particularly note worthy other than some admittedly cool action scenes and episode 3 bugged me with the anakin story he was very quick to join up with the sith and suddenly lose all sense of good as shown when he kills all the kids....like i said they're all as flawed as they are brilliant and other than episode 1 which i watched again the other day and found myself thinking only Qui Gon Jin and Darth Maul were actually of any interest at all.

oh and this video is misleading these are the promo clips for the giant MMORPG they're currently alpha testing but for some reason are promoting.

^^^^ best Star Wars related post ever!!!! The Old Republic is going into beta tests soon I think. The reason I brought up the prequels was cause I think they should've been more like The Old Republic.

Aye they should have focused on making a film of the era of Naga Sadow in my opinion. When the sith weren't just 1 master and 1 apprentice but rather a coalition of many sith all working together under an emperor. Would be far more interesting.

I visited a friend in his late 30's yesterday. He collects Lego Star Wars sets. Rather huge Lego models of the Death Star, Millenium Falcon, etc,  with thousands of individual pieces, He displays the finished models in his living room, being very proud of them. That is what is gonna happen to you Star Wars geeks if you don't get out and find yourselves women.

Lego rules  :slywink:

I used to have a diorama made up for a few years of a gang of cops beating the fuck out of an unfortunate,Rodney King style coloured legoman on a city street-complete with "nothing to see here" lego cops dispersing the shocked crowd.
