I always liked Sonny Liston (even though his career was over way before I was born).
Had some classics with Ali as well, I think Liston went down after a couple of seconds once...
But nowadays I prefer watching kickboxing and free fight (UFC, K1, etc). But the real fighters, not the freaks!

Boxing is fucked, Id much rather watch MMA.

I like boxing in principle, but its often...well...rigg ed, or something (see any Mundine fight)

K-1 is pretty awesome. UFC has good cards every so often but a good boxing match pwns the UFC hands down!

MMA fighters will usually beat a pure boxer of comparable skill level , and I do enjoy a good MMA match since I understand the ins and outs of the strategy . For pure entertainment though I prefer a top notch boxing match .

I can't argue with that. The 'game' is far too political nowadays.

It doesn't mean great fights can't still happen, but they are few and far between in the modern era.

That's why I love the yootoob footage; hours and hours of classic fights.

There's no real big personalities in boxing anymore (which takes away from the sport in general). The volatility, rivalries, unpredictability, guys who go in and knock other guys down in a matter of minutes are all but gone. I also miss the mouths (particularly the ones who could back it up with action - not Haye he's nothing but a try hard in that respect). I really don't know when the last time was two greats got in the ring boxed for twelve rounds and I've came away thinking... "class fight" (you get quality with the likes of Hopkins, Mayweather but beyond that boxing is very naff - particularly the heavyweight division which is dominated by ultra-disciplined boxers with little to no charisma or flair).

I agree with it all, except the Hopkins reference. Hopkins is the embodiment of how some fighters are letting the game down.

Sure, he's hard as fuck, but he's a spoiler, out to grapple, grab, time-waste and earn a wedge.

That's why he's doing so remarkably well at his age; There's nothing remarkable about it at all, he's just a bone-headed spoiler.

I grew up watching Tyson. When he stopped, so did I. Which means I pretty much have no idea about the world of boxing. I do like to watch Haye but he is nowhere near the calibre of the greats.

And who can forget the greatest boxer of all time: Clubber Lang
