Guns n' Roses unauthorised rocumentary 1986-2010
« on: May 08, 2011, 05:33:43 PM »
I posted this in the downloads section but it hasn't gotten any interests or comments, so I will put it in here as well. Untill someone moves it :( I compiled a three dvd set of concert and interview footage of the band. All eras, VR, Slash solo. I wanted to tell the gnr story, but let the band tell it themselves through the music, and from the horses mouth. I have a trailor and the intro up on youtube. The entire film is far too long to post on youtube, it's over ten hours long!!! Let me know what everybody thinks.

yes it is pretty long, but I couldn't think of any other way. I mean the whole Ritz 88' show is included and I had to give lies, Uyi, cd, vr, and slash's album their fair dues as well. next thing I knew it was really long. I didn't make this for casual fans, I made it for die hards, like us that come to this site. It is really interesting to see how they went from playing an LA club like the clip that I posted, to playing the Ritz, then headlining on the Illusions tours, to being a major part of video music awards, Freddie Mercury concert, to pretty much imploding. Then Axl reappears at RiR 3 with the new band, VR is born, The 06' tour, VR dies, then CD is released, and Slash goes solo. I just couldn't help but show everything, it's just all so damn good, and it allows the viewer to decide who was right, who was wrong, and which bands were better. After viewing the whole thing I gotta say VR really wasn't all that good. I know it's just my opinion, but they are the worst part of the whole set. I think it's a combination of Dave Kushner and Scott Weiland, cause the other three were awesome in gnr. But I have a clip of VR doing used to love her and when you compare it to new gnr doing the same song, it just seems off to me. If I had to rate every band I would say

1. Appetite era gnr
2. Illusion era gnr
3. Current gnr
4. Slash's current band
5. 06' gnr
6. 02' gnr
7. VR

Don't get me wrong, I love the RiR3 show, but that band just doesn't click just right IMO. Buckethead is amazing, but Fick and Tobias just don't mesh or something.

A very noble, orignial initiative I would very like to see once but how are you going to distribute it (if you are) :hmpf? Pherhaps you can post parts of the film on the net (on boxnet, Megaupload or something like that)?
You all made is curious  :D!

I think it's great! I can't wait for the whole thing! What an impressive and comprehensive undertaking!
If you are worried about the length perhaps a release in parts ie.
Part I The Early Years
Part II Fame
Part III Implosion
Part IV  Aftermath
Part V Current GnR and former band member projects
Clearly this is merely a suggestion, but you get the idea. Also by releasing it this way, the fans can watch/purchase music from their favorite era/eras. You could also have it in the long version for those who wish to watch in its' entirety (who wouldn't??)
Just a few thoughts...
And I love that it is unauthorized, makes it even more true
Some of my favorite lyrics:
All the world's indeed a stage, and we are merely players
On a good day, I know it ain't everday, we can part the seas
If ya wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes, you'll just have to claw your way through this disguise
History hides the lies of our Civil War
