I said it from the start i'd rather have a somewhat cooperative dictator in power butchering dissidents (or whatever he considers one) than a group of terrorist supported, terrorist linked, power grabbing, racial genociders. It's admirable to think we stopped some suffering but a lot less when you realise people will soon start dying in their hundreds because they were born darker.

Because seeing the future is totally feasible. Speculations will forever remain speculations; if I were given a choice of either being stuck with an insane dictator known for violating human rights and committing war crimes, or getting the chance at a better life, I'd take the latter, no questions asked; and I doubt you'd choose otherwise.

It's amazing how people who are actually punishing Gaddafi by death without even a trial, let alone a fair one, and then exhibiting his dead body to Libyan people are pretending to support democracy and fundamental rights in Libya. In all honesty, I feel sorry for all of those Libyan people who hope to lead a happier life thanks to the upcoming democratization. There's no such thing on the table and they've been lied to in the most horrible way. What's even more frightening is that the new Libyan legal system will be based on... Sharia Law. It's all about the money, folks. But I guess we've all known that before the war in Libya.

Which section is speculation? It's like trying to have a debate with an Alzheimer's patient no matter what you say the same point is always raised again and again.

It's never easy to go from a totalitarian regime into a democracy, but many countries have managed to do it so one is allowed to hope the same thing will happen this time in Libya. Unless of course one doesn't care about history and all the precedents from where it has happened successfully, or turn a blind eye to all the successful democracy origins and rather just focus on those occasions where a new totalitarian regime has sprung out of the chaos, or is a racist who doesn't believe Arabs are able to create functional democracies.

I prefer to be optimistic about the future of Libya while still remaining realistic enough to know that there is a significant possibility that the new regime might not be much better than the one under Khaddafi.
