It's hard not to. And I'm as shocked as the next person. But I second what Andy said:

And the pic is not encouraging violence. A Marine is campaigning to become a congressman, and it's basically saying we need a man who is strong willed, able, and tough enough to work for the people, or a "warrior". The gun doesn't mean that it encourages people to shoot and kill our politicians. You reading way too into it. You're trying to find messages that aren't there.

So that makes it political in my view. As for the books he read which he mentioned on his YT channel: I tried to read this books also because I wanted to know what drove people to follow such ideologies! I'm not the only one. Doesn't mean I am as well a nazi or a communist.

Recently I bought a translation of the Quran with explanations by a Dutch/Iranian writer Kader Abdolah. He's a great writer. I (try) to read this Quran also out of interest. It shall never turn me into a Muslim as the bible doesn't turned me into a Christian.

I'm not defending that guy in any way. I'm still sick of this event. But I'm sort of shocked reading how some posters like to kill too. I'm against the death penalty. It's never the answer to solve problems. It only brings on more violence. It isn't any help against crimes either. To fight violence with violence is also never the answer and has never worked as history and every event of crime on whatever lever proved and proofs until today........

This is awful. Simply awful. I'm not going to call for this guy's head; I think he has some problems and I hope they get sorted out, and I hope that justice as the law sees it is done.

However, on another note, can I ask how the news are reporting this in America? I haven't seen any here, but many experts plead with the news to only give stories like this a passing mention, as anyone else unstable enough to do this sees blanket coverage as something to aspire to and inevitably copy the act. I hope this doesn't lead to more cases.

first, when I said they should go to the nuthouse it was not because of their offer to the people (i can understand if they dont want immigrants in their country, I dont want immigrants in mine either  ) and I didnt mean that the Tea Party hired Laughner or agreed with him that he should open fire and kill people. I was rather talking about the psychological impact of their campaign on people, specially on freaks. You just need to read betweent the lines, the meaning is not subliminal nor secret: in the map that Sarah Palin draw for her campaign she was ponting at 20 members of the congress (among them Giffords) as if they were military targets. And Kelly posing with a machine gun for a deputy position, are you kidding me?


oh, and look at what Palin said about Giffords: Get on the target for victory in November. help remove Gabriela Giffords from the office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jessy Kelly.

even George Bush's wife replied: Sarah is very beautiful, but she should stay in Alaska.

Now, we all have to be responsible with our speech and what we mean, imply and cause. Cause the world is full of fundamentalists/fanatics/freaks and when the shit hits the fan this is what happens.

The dude was unstable, pushed to the limit by his frustrations with a government that doesn't feel it has to respond to anything and thats as far as it goes. You don't kill old people and kids for politics.

And so what if some people actually like the tough Marine type American image? We're not ALL coombaya hippies who are upset at the sight of a gun.
