I don't know how to explain it... you control a character, and you play with four other people online against another team of 5, and you try to kill each other, basically.
Mathematical.

Ok, so it is as basic as I think it is? I mean on WoW at least you get to do different things and you need to bring up toolbars and mana bags and stuff like that, but on this LoL all I see him do is point and click incessantly, and the character automatically casts magic spells at enemies.

Is scrub a video gaming term, or is it a term for commoner? Because as you know I am English, which means I am on first name terms with the Queen, so I can't possibly be a commoner.

It's a real time strategy game with 3 races the terran (human), protoss (advanced aliens) and zerg (primitive aliens, but fast reproducing - think of the 3 races like AVP, the original game includes many references to Alien anyway) where you harvest resources, amass an army and try to defeat your enemy like C&C and all of those others except this one is worth playing..

It is famed for its balanced gameplay and extensive replay-ability because it is one of the best games ever made.

Oh ok. So is LoL like that? Wow, who knew. It really doesn't like that. Ho hum. TSI?, do you play the Total War games? I've probably asked you before, but I've forgotten. Also, Hearts of Iron - simply brilliant games.

Total War kicks ass! I have only played Medieval though. Is there a newer one worth buying? Never played Hearts of Iron, that's where you have tanks and shiz and fight the Germans though yeah? Think a mate played it just recently while we were in the US.

Nah LoL is just the off spring of DoTa which is a Warcraft 3 custom map made by some fans. StarCraft is a really fast paced game, online it's probably the most fiercely contested RTS I know haha. I played Brood War night and day when I was 13-14...  :shy:

But Starcraft II is excellent, worth trying at very least.

I've heard that Starcraft is taken deadly seriously in South Korea, to the point that it is an actual job and westerners move there to play it professionally complete with groupies :?:

But yes, if you like Medieval, definately get the later Total Wars. Empire is my favourite, if only because that period of history is one of my favourites. It is markedly different from Medieval though; it might be worth just skipping ahead to Shogun II, because trust me, that game is nigh on perfect. It's a bloody masterpiece, and definately worth getting!

Hearts of Iron is the World War Two one with tanks and shit yeah, but you can be literally any country in the world. It is a game of strategy rather than the tactical level battles of Total War, and is really in depth. It's bloody scary at first, but once you get your head round it the depth of the game is amazing.

Fuck oath haha. Some of the players there get paid a wage by corporations that sponsor them and they have 24/7 tv networks dedicated to it. I think it's considered a national sport. Their commercial passenger planes had Starcraft II logos on the side when it launched as a promotion.

I might do. I liked the idea of going on a conquest of Europe in Medieval but it sorta wasn't as deep as I hoped it would be and I'm almost certain I didn't like the combat a great deal for its simplicity and lack of control haha but I'll definitely give Shogun a go. PC gaming seems to be dying doesn't it :?:

Is Hearts of Iron also really old?

Shogun has more depth than Medieval. Lots more actually; lots of things which I won't ruin for you, because half of the fun of it for me was realising all the things they had done and marvelling at them :shy:

And Hearts of Iron is an old game, yes. And I would recommend the second one rather than the third (because the third isn't very good compared) which makes it even older. But the beauty of the game is that graphics don't matter; it's all information based. I know that sounds crap, but when you get it into it you'll realise what I mean. It feels more like you are actually running a country rather than playing a game - you have to manage everything, from trade deals to bring in what resources you don't have, to buiding infrastructure and factories to building up an army. Even what doctrine your army should use. I am not selling the game well, and you should never watch youtube for gameplay because it looks crap; you should try and pick it up for a couple of quid and go through the tutorial a couple of times, and then start off a campaign with a tiny nation (I was Iraq). Then you get the hang of the game in baby steps and will be conquering the entire world soon enough :D

You could even be Australia ;)

Wow I just realized my post was a quote :shy:

I might actually be sold on them both to be honest. I think my mate said you could play Australia but it sucks because you're so far away from everything and just like real life you're insignificant in the larger picture haha. Except I guess nowadays we're a natural resource powerhouse and China are paying particular attention to our relations with the USA because they're building a USMC base here in Darwin :fpalm:

But I got off topic; at the moment I think Hearts of Iron sounds like the front runner it would be cheap as chips on Steam wouldn't it?

If you can get it on steam then yes, it really would be cheap as hell. Or even this special edition anthology pack is just shy of £7 here in the UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hearts-Of-Iron-Anthology-PC/dp/B000STQ57A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327755341&sr=8-1, although I don't know how much it would be in Oz. And this one gives you the expansions which let you play your campaign right through until 1964 instead of 1945, which is well worth it.
