So just because someone likes GNR he should love Slash's playing? I certainly don't, and I became a GNR fan watching their RIR III concert - ya know, got used to Bucket and Ron playing lead and Slash doesn't impress me at all - from a technical and compositional standpoint. That doesn't mean I don't like his playing and solos at all. I just happen to prefer Ron and Bucket. ;)

I don't even listen to old GNR anymore, even the older stuff I only listen when the new guys are playing. So yeah, even though your affirmation was pointless, I could live without old GNR any day of the week.

Don't even try to bring the "past" subject, because we can see who was the creative force behind GNR when Axl released Chinese Democracy and Velvet Revolver released 2 not so good albums.

Slash was good or even great in GNR? I think so. I just happen to like more Ron's and Bucket's (And Robin's for that matter) quality contributions over the several songs Slash played on. Ya know, quality over quantity. :unibrow:

I didn't say you or anyone had to love Slash's playing but to say he's a guitarist that's not so good is retarded.  To say Axl was the main creative force?? Come on dude, I have listened to CD and it's a good album but it can't hold a candle to the others. Axl may have steered the ship but without the other's especially Slash they would have sank.  I think it says alot when in the liner notes Axl personally thanks Slash for his guitar work on Estranged..
Just because your winning don't mean your the lucky one.

Your oppinion. Mine's that CD is a much better album than any of the older GNR stuff.
I don't give a fuck if the old stuff is played on the radion, this mainstream shit is getting old already. So the mainstream public prefers Lady Gaga's songs over Hendrix's, so she's the better musician. Ya, got the nonsense already.
Oh, and someone said that Izzy was the main creative force behind GNR. Yup, all of his mediocre/good solo albums speak for themselves, while CD's on another league musically and compositionally. Axl didn't write it alone, yes, but judging by how the songs that Slash, Izzy, Matt and Duff wrote without him aren't even half as good as the GNR stuff... you get the idea.

You dont hear Keith Richards shredding-does that mean he isnt a good guitarist?

He does what the song needs, no more, no less.

I'm still trying to understand why you brought the shredding topic to this thread, to be honest.

nah, I didnt mean he was the creative force. I named him, like I could have named Duff or Slash, meaning that Axl was not the only musical ginius in that band. Maybe he was the 60%, I accept that... but what would've been of that 60% without the other 40%?
