Ps3 to VGA Monitor HELP

 I've got a PS3 connected to a VGA monitor (a HP 2009v, which supports HDCP but doesn't have a DVI input) with a HDMI-VGA cable. But when I turn on the monitor and the PS3, I just get 'check video cable' (which I have, many times). Help meeeeeee..........e eeeeeeee........... eeeeeeeeeeee....... .eeeeeeeeee. PLease.

PLease?  :tear:

Also, the new HDFury3 device costs about the same as a swish new smaller-sized lcd hd tv. What to do?
