To be honest I think both VR albums are for the most part uninspired and by numbers, I much prefer either snakepit album.

I thought Contraband had an awesome instrumental section. Scott's lyrics did suck dick. Overall Libertad was pretty bad aside from Matt's drumming which has never failed me!

I would take a Loaded/Duff solo record over any VR record. Snakepit has its moments but way too many fillers

This thread inspired me to put Libertad in my car yesterday. And you know something? I loved it! Can't really say why, I just really like it as an album :cool:

I must say I really like Libertad. Contraband is a bit of mess I think, allthough it also has its great moments (like Sucker train blues, Do it for the Kids, Headspace etc.). the only thing that bothers me a bit is the fact that there aren't that much rough songs (Scott's fault, according to Slash) and that there aren't any epic or even long-during songs. On the whole I like Velvet Revolver, but I think Guns is doing way better with Chinese democracy.

I'd give Libertad 2 and a half stars out of 5. Compared with Contrabands 3 and a half.
