With respect to JP who is more reliable on this subject than i am since i don't follow united, rooney or everton particularly closely (other than in the table and top goal scorers list) i can't imagine Rooney at Everton for the foreseeable however Fergie will retire "soon" and when that day does come i think it's fairly likely that he'd move clubs a season or two later and where would he go? Everton are the only club i can even imagine him going to.

and i think he's a player who wants to win a lot and won't want to be part of a manchester united line up that isn't on top. If he can't be out winning consistently for club and country he's going to go back "home".
