Axl's Singing.
« on: June 23, 2010, 09:29:33 PM »
I absolutely love the band and the music but now a days it's like I don't give a shit about live shows anymore. before back in 2004 I used to love watching 01 concerts and 2002 stuff but now a days it just sucks and is not doing the trick for me. Partially because Chinese Democracy is out and that mystique that used to be there is now nothing but a clear white piece if paper. Not to mention Axl singing the new songs for the 10th song in the set sucks cause he's already strained his voice and he's just not hitting the notes. And if he IS hitting the notes it's just got awful.

I can still watch 01-02 but the new shows, Nadda. Can't get a boner anymore.

Anyone else?

I had the same declining interest until live performances were announced in my region. I used to frequent the “news” section and see all these less than active members going crazy about “getting their tickets” for such and such a date. It really didn't interest me and to an extent I despised their feeling of excitement. I couldn't comprehend the hype at all until, out of the blue, Dublin and Belfast sprung from nowhere! Suddenly the sense of hostility (of late) I'd felt towards Axl/GN'R just vanished and I was literally jumping about the house! Basically what I'm trying to say is it'll take dates in U.S.A to reignite your interest, and hence re-bone your so and so. Don't get me wrong, your spot on about the sense of mystique around the album and the 2002 incarnation in general, but this band are more than worth giving a shot! I'm not going to kid you here, the current guitarists are good, but there's no Buckethead.

From the decent recordings Ive heard from this tour/s I dont think Axl is sounding as good as he did in 06/07 and personally Im totally not interested in seeing them live again now-I think everyone is aware of my feelings towards a certain guitarist hired for these shows and I honestly cant bring myself to be excited over a band that contains the faggot I alluded to.

When Brain left, I started loosing interest, when Finck left I pretty much gave up.

It seems less like GNR now than its ever been IMO, and of course we all know opinions are like asssholes and exciting origin stories...

I agree, BUT I also agree with NewGNRnOldGNR, I dont think Ill be excitied until they come to the US (if they do at all) but after the initial bang of the tour, Im not impressed with them at all.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Fuck you, whore.

Johan is not nuts. At least not anymore nuts than the rest of us. He is ruled by his own psychology, which includes jealousy that he cannot sing that high.

He has a great voice as long as he doesn't lose breath, when he lost breath he sounds bad. He should move his lazy ass and improve fitness. Then he will be able to sing all songs (from the CD) properly.

Lol axl was never a great live singer. Even in '91 til '93, his voice was shot for most of the tour. Now its obvs more noticeable cause even when his having a good singing day, its still sounds relatively average.
Axl was always a studio singer, and a good entertainer but not a great live singer

I'm not sure if he ever wanted to sing live as well as on the album. For me his live singing with more feelings and energy has always been better than the studio, except songs like SCOM...
