I'm presently reading a book centred around the work and experiences of Simon Wiesenthal, a "Nazi-hunter" so to speak. The former certainly is a real eye opener in regards to the throughts of evil, and what provokes those sinister thoughts into action. Adolf Eichmann is a notable Nazi covered in large sections of the book.

But if I put the boring book down and take another one, I´ll never know if it gets better near the end. Same goes with music, some music can be "bad" when you listen to it for a first time, but when you give it a chance, you can realize it´s just brilliant.

I agree with you......I am starting to get some interest in world history...from the guys in the forum...they make it sound so interesting....but has never been my thing. I think I might try that book Jplpool was talking about.

I guess that's why we have the book club.....if you read something that's extremely good...pass it on...you've peaked my direction in reading material....if something is just crap...tell it...got a stephen king fan in this thread whose reading The Dark Tower series...I didn't post...but she's reading fiction at it's best....

I just hope they are as good as they were in school.

I've only just read '1984' for the first time.

A thought provoking novel, but ultimately a bit of a let down. The political references, and the way they mirror certain aspects of today are startling at times. But ultimately the story meanders off in the direction of some sort of 'tragedy'. And it's hard to swallow when you don't really feel a connection with the characters. It's sort of like they are the backdrop to a bigger picture. If that makes sense to anybody

Parts of it are genius, it's just as a cohesive whole, it's left me feeling underwhelmed.

Don't ask me who wrote it-because neither the "Demonoid" up-loader or the PDF itself have granted me that info-but it's called "Karate Book-Nerve Centres"

The Warrior of Rome trilogy by Harry Sidebottom is very good. Roman stuff in the third century, I'm 30 pages from the end.

I have a link to his "Ancient warfare" book.

Thanks for the heads up, I'd never heard of him before. It looks interesting.
