That's one of the reasons I don't listen to their old music, alongside Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy and Fat Bottomed Girls etc.

Too fruity.

Comes down to taste I suppose but I really preferred their 80's pop and that can be arguably more fruity, although at least it was more of a signature sound. The Show Must Go On, Radio Ga Ga, A Kind of Magic, These Are the Days of Our Lives etc. will be the songs I'll go back to. As good as Bohemian Rhapsody is I'm seldom in a mood to listen to it.

Nobody will agree but I don't find A Day at / A Night At the Opera albums to be anything amazing either

I completely agree.  Though I find their first three albums to be their best, by a rather wide margin.
