Y'know... in concert you've got all of the instrumentation going on as well as the vocals, so the songs sound much better "in person".

Axl didn't do the show a cappella, so the negative comments about the poor quality of his singing are pretty baseless.

Axl was having trouble with his wireless pack all night.  So much of the time he couldn't even hear the band.  (I can also tell you that during the first part of the encore (like during Madagascar and Better, Axl's voice was almost completely drowned out by the instruments.)  There were technical problems with the sound (from the band's point of view) all night.  Luckily, the problems didn't really affect what we could hear in the audeince (except for the problems with Axl's volume that I just mentioned.).

The "in-ear monitor" mix is not the best way to hear the show if you want to understand what we all heard in the audience that night.  But, since it *is* better than any available audience recordings, I guess it will have to do.

Axl's performance was not "shitty", "horrible", "awful", or any other negative adjective you can come up with.  It's just with this type of recording, we're not getting the full picture.

no, i'm a realist and not someone who thinks that everything axl does is "omg, the best thing i ever heard in the history of the world ever and ever, omg!!"

and i've seen em live in every incarnation...from 1988-2006 so i can speak from first hand experience
and before you get your panties in a wad, i'm not a "hater"...i'm someone who listens without prejudice...somethi ng "fans" don't always do...it is ok to be a fan and not think everything that the band you like is the most awesome thing ever...criticism is healthy and it pushes the artist or band to be better

Just like the 2002 VMAs when his craphouse, out of breath vocals were due to an earpiece malfunction?

why the need for the earpiece?
he seemed to do fine without it years ago....

seems like it's just an easy excuse that he uses time and again

It's official, you're from another planet. Just get to listen to Madonna who's as old as Axl. Oops, she doesn't sing live anymore. Ok, get to listen to Jennifer Lopez (10 years younger than Axl, 40-minutes shows). Oops, playback is all over the place. Ok, let's listen to Britney Spears (20 years younger than Axl). OOPS, playback, playback, playback! And you want me to blame Axl for being out of breath in a couple of songs, whereas he doesn't use playback and puts on 3-hour-and-a-half shows on his late 40s? You guys n' girls, so-called GnR fans, are the most ignorant people on earth. Just as I thought that AC/DC fans were the most ignorant ones, complaining for the fact that the setlist is the same every night and ignoring the fact that a couple of guys in their late 50s/early 60s put on this AMAZING show, consisted of 25 classic tunes. It's official, we, GnR fans, are the most ignorant fans out there. Come on all of you, let's bash Axl for giving us what we've asked for, singing everything with his best voice in the last 10 years! How dare he sound out of breath in 3-hour-and-a-half show! HOW DARE HE!
