neither will stand "the test of time" frankly TDK is no star wars or godfather
Star Wars was an overrated piece of shit anyway, and no one could have predicted the longevity that movie would have.
No other movie this decade has captured the public's imagination more. It was already being hailed as a masterpiece when it was released and the passage of time hasn't eroded that. The fact that there are now haters springing up all over the place professing it to be overrated and calling it's "masterpiece status" into question, is already proof it's on its way to be considered as such. Once debate is even being entertained on such a topic, (real debate mind, not some idiot who says that every film that comes along these days is a modern classic) there's a high chance that it will indeed stand the test of time.
TDK is to its genre what Star Wars and Godfather were to their respective genres, groundbreaking and unique, taking an old concept and treating it seriously for the first time. Such films are never swept under the carpet. Lesser films in the genre are still discussed at lenght (the Spiderman franchise) and TDK was considered the peak of its genre by both critics and fans, so there's no reason the same won't happen to it except on a much larger scale, so it's discussion and status and relevance to mankind will last long into the future
