I thought Cats get older than dogs and my last two dogs which did not die prematurely because of a disease got 16 and 15.

It depends a lot on the breed of the dog, some are expected to live only 5-6 years. People generally think that cats live longer since many cats live to be 20 or older, but I would say that the average is pretty much the same for both. Of course it depends on the owner's care and whether or not the pet has had any diseases whatsoever.

Here are my two dogs. I'm pretty cut up at the minute, because the dog standing up, Meg, has been diagnosed with a tumour that will kill her. The vets don't know if it will be three months or eighteen months, so I don't know how long I have left with her. Just got to enjoy the time I do have left.

Well, she had an operation to remove it which was a success, but unfortunately it was the 'wrong kind' of tumour. She is ten years old, so hopefully she will live out the eighteen months she might have.
