Following on from overrated guitarist lets do a underrated.



James Hetfield for me amazing rhythem guitarist doesnt get the reconition he deserves imo.  :rockon:

I don't think he's underrated, but I agree, he's a great rhythm guitarist.

- All NewGNR guitar players: Buckethead, Bumblefoot, Fortus and Finck.
   The whole hate for NewGNR makes people not give them a fair chance.

- Pat Travers
   I first heard this guy because Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden's drummer) playe on his album. Turns out he was an awesome guitar player.

- Jake E. Lee
  It's understandable people don't pay much attentin to him, he replaced the amazing Randy Rhoads and was replaced by Zakk Wylde, but still he's a great guitar player.

I agree with Jake E. Lee. He was definately an underrated guitarist. He only had a little while with Ozzy before Zakk replaced him. He then went on to make the band Badlands with Ray Gillen which only lasted two years because Ray Gillen died of AIDS. I'm not sure wtf he's doin now

Matt Bellamy - no, seriously. People give him 'props', but I don't think he gets enough. His guitar parts are really fiddly, and he pulls them off live like he's playing fucking 'Iron Man'

Jarkko martikainen .. none of you prolly knows him.. he only plays chord based acoustic songs but damn his rhyhtm playing is solid as chuck norrises abs!!!

Underrated in my opinion would be:

Bumblefoot
Guthrie Govan
Mattias IA Eklundh
Shawn Lane
Buckethead

Luckily to the people who matter the most: those with a strong interest in, appreciation and understanding of music that shines in both relevant dimensions: technique and really great songwriting. These names already represent some of the finest to ever pick up the instrument.

However, in a more mainstream context, where popularity somehow seems to be equivalent to quality and people like Slash and Herman Li reign supreme. Those who worship them ,constantly underline their own ignorance by downsizing the people I mentioned. Using some of the most jelly sucking close minded rhetoric ever uttered.
