The Artist.

Really, really wanted to love this one. It's a charming movie with a great lead performance but a bit overrated. Film of the year? Nah, it'll have to settle with being very good.

Genuinely surprised how much I liked it. Great, great movie. Tempted to give it full marks but my lack of baseball knowledge let me down...

Suprisingly good. Portman and Gordon-Lewitt did great jobs with their characters. Liked it a lot.

The Help.

Ehhhhh..... nothing much to say. Glosses over much of the actual meat of the civil rights movement and had the sneaking suspicion for most of the time I was actually watching a chick flick in disguise. Still, any excuse to stare at Emma Stone for 2+ hours. 3/5.

I didn't like it. The Brad Pitt story line was reasonable, but why the fuck did they hire Sean Penn. All he does is walking besides big buildings. + the abstract stuff looked nice, but it still made me almost fall asleep in the cinema, which never happens to me.

Hesher was also pretty cool, though a bit surreal sometimes. Nice sound track!

Hugo (M. Scorsese)

Great effects, great filming, wonderfull atmosphere but the plot isn't very good. It's essentially a sort of children's movie with an ode to the movies of the 30s. I wouldn't really recommend it. Sacha Baron Cohen's superb performance saves it a little bit though  :thumbsup:.

^^Back to the future is brilliant! One of my all time favorite trilogies too.


Saw a couple of films the last couple of days:

Tucker & Dale vs Evil : 7/10, good and funny slasher movie. Seems the only time slasher movies are good anymore is when they are making fun of the genre

The girl with the dragon tatoo: 8.5/10, really good thriller with some very hard scenes too watch. Probably wouldn't make my top 5 for the year, but just.

The Descendants.

Just go see it. Maybe it was a bit more personal for me because I've gone through something similar but it was a well made, well acted drama with humour and lots of heart. Highly recommended.
