7-led zeppelin*
(*i do have their greatest hits, the early years

their actual albums)

8-Whitesnake*
(*although i do have their 1987 self titled album
with the song bad boys on it)

9-Michael Monroe
10-Hanoi Rocks

Siamese Dream if you wanna know real Smashing Pumpkins.

Best track is Mayonaise.

Rocks or Get Your Wings by Aerosmith.

Seasons of Wither is perfection.

Rather Ripped by Sonic Youth is my favourite. Some of their other albums are too.. :puke:

Okay, so you list a few bands you've always wanted to get into, but dont know where to start. here's mine:

1-Aerosmith get 'rocks', it's probably the only thing by them i'd ever really consider listening to now.
2-smashing pumpkins you can't go wrong with any of non-zeitgeist albums, really.  'mellon collie' is my favorite, but it's sorta too sprawling and longwinded for some.  as tsi? said, mayonaise off 'siamese dream' is their best song, but then 'adore' is also great, probably my second favorite behind 'mellon'.  it's electronic and really good.
3-sonic youth 'rather ripped' overall sucks, but that's just me.  it's really simple and it really gets boring toward the end.  i'd recommend 'daydream nation' if you're wanting to hear alternative rock anthems with some more artsy stuff thrown in there or 'goo' if you just want a solid 1, 2 punch from thurston and company.
4-john lennon any of his solo albums that he released while he was alive were great.  avoid most of the posthumous releases, but then again, it's safe to say that with 99% of all artists...
5-james tayler one of my friend's moms likes him.
6-neil young
7-led zeppelin get 'houses of the holy'.  from what i can see, you're a hard rock fellow, and this is their best probably.  every song sounds different and they're all great.  'physical graffiti' is great too, but i don't usually have time to listen to both discs.
8-Whitesnake shit
9-Michael Monroe shit
10-Hanoi Rocks shit

I love Rather Ripped for songs like Jams Run Free, Incinerate and Pink Steam. But some so called "hardcore" fans told me to get Daydream Nation and I fucking hated it.

For Aerosmith, get everything before they split, that was amazing stuff. And Led Zeppelin, you should just start with the first album. I made the mistake of only having greatest hits, and it just doesn't work. You need to listen to their albums to truly appreciate them, IMO. So I would say start off with the first, and listen to it a few times and let it sink in to your conciousness. Then there is no way back :D

Zeppelin goes diverse in many albums. For me II, IV, and Houses of Holy are my favorite. But II really just shows the bluesy hard rock type that i love from Zeppelin. Aerosmith, get pre breakup stuff. The first three post break up albums have parts of of greatness. Nine lives and Just Push Play are really bad. But A night in the Ruts, Toys in the Attic, and Rocks are probably among the top 20 off my fav albums of all time.

I agree with essentially everything you just said, I would just like to say I think that Nine Lives is one of the best post sellout Aerosmith albums
