The amazing Novak Djokovic. This guy is really going to improve his head to head against Rafael Nadal that's for sure.

A very good match nonetheless and it's better to see Nole take the NR. 1 spot with a win rather than loss.

Final score: 6:4  6:1  1:6  6:3

I'll post some pictures later.

Well done to Novak, he really is the best player of this year.
I personally never want him to win, because I find him a bit boring to watch. But that's just me.
But he definitely deserves the number 1 position. I hope Del Potro will be totally in shape and form again soon. Because I am telling you, he's even better.  :ninja:

2011 Wimbledon Champion - Novak Djokovic

Nole, the 2011 Wimbledon Champion, is officially crowned the 25th player to rank no.1 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings.

The 24-year-old Serb is ranked no.1 in the latest ATP Ranking List as of Monday, July 4, 2011, with 13,285 points.

He has become the first person in seven years to hold the no.1 ranking not called Roger or Rafa.

It is a particularly significant achievement in the age of Federer and Nadal, with two of the greatest players of all time playing some of their best tennis. "Both of them are so incredibly consistent with their success and so dominant the last couple of years. They don't give you a lot of chances to become no.1. So I guess you need to lose only one match in seven months to get there. If you can do that -- well done," said Novak after securing no.1 spot on Friday.

The world’s leading tennis player and Wimbledon Champion Novak Djokovic was greated by 100,000 people in front of the National Assembly of Serbia in Belgrade on Monday.

I watched some of the videos on YouTube, what a reception that was.

It was so cool of him to dedicate the trophy to Serbia. And the always present three fingers salute.  :D
It's so funny to me when he speaks Serbian because I understand it and he's such an international person it feels kinda weird.  :D

He deserved it, so enjoy Serbia and enjoy Novak Djokovic and his genuine supporters.

Rafael Nadal is out of the Rogers Cup in Montreal after a shock 1-6 7-6 7-6 defeat in the second round against Croatia's Ivan Dodig.

 :disgust:

It is indeed true. Nadal won the first set easily and was up a break in the second. Dodig somehow leveled the match and won the tie-break. In the third set Rafa went up 3:0 again and at 5:3 served for the match but failed to finish it. In the tie-break they were very close, at 5:6 Dodig hit an amazing backhand winner that won him the match. Nothing to say but congrats. Dodig fought well, Rafa not so much.

Yesterday Tsonga defeated Roger Federer with 7:6 4:6 6:1 which means Novak Djokovic is the only one of the top 4 seeds still in the tournament. I think he is a heavy favourite now, even more than he already was.

Saddly no, not yet. Me and my friend, who is happen to be a huge Nadal fan too, we've been talking of going to Rome Masters (which would be the closest big tournament for us) but there were always conflitcting schedules - school, work or something else.

Perhaps I'll go see Beograd next year or Vienna maybe, but these are small tournaments. Tickets for big matches are really expensive though and I'm so low on € right now I cannot really make plans.

There is talk of an exhibition match that is going to supposedly take place in my country. Nothing is confimred and it could be all rumours, but the news said there might be a match between Novak Djokovic and Pete Sampras in Ljubljana. That would be really cool.

Novak Djokovic, ranked NR. 1 player on an ATP chart, set another milestone in his greatest season so far and what it shaping to be one of the greatest seasons of all-time.

With a final win over American Mardy Fish 6:2 3:6 6:4 in the ATP 1000 Masters event in Montreal Novak Djokovic has won his 5th Masters of the season.

Previous record holders were Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer who both won 4 Masters in a season respectively. The scary thing is that there are 3 more Masters until the end of the season.

This also marks the first time a NR. 1 player won a tournament in his debut as NR. 1.

Congratulations.
