Wow - How fast a fuckin' year went by! Gianna Rose is now just about 15 months old. Walking and raising hell already. Her first words were officially "eye eye eye eye eye" as in eye eye eye eye where do we go, where do we go now, owww where do we go.....   :)
Def her favorite song.

I have made it through all the "firsts" without Amanda. Things really have gotten tremendously better after the year mark. Gianna is a total chick magnet which is cool but girls are crazier than I remember them being 10 years ago...

Thank you guys and gals for the continued love~

I am sure Amanda is right there with you two through all the firsts.... your daughter and you definitely have a guardian angel looking over the two of you now...I am glad to hear that your daughter is healthy and doing good...

Dear Brini,
I just found this post and wanted to offer my condolences and praise you for your strength! I am so sorry for your loss. Good for you in making choices that you knew that your wife would want and for sticking to your principles about it! I think a lot of people do what they think they are "supposed" to do when a loved one passes, but imo, they only thing you "should " do is honor that person by doing, saying, and having things the way they would want it. I lost my first husband 10 years ago, and even though I have remarried and moved on, the loss is always there, so I can totally empathasize with your situation. My heart goes out to you and your daughter...
I played a lot of his favorite music at his funeral because I knew he would want it that way, rather than solemn elevator music. THAT was not WHO he was! I had him dressed in his favorite tshirt-a vintage Beatles tee rather than a suit, and had his long hair put in a ponytail, just as he always wore it.
I said "back off" in a nice way to anyone who questioned my decisions or did not approve. I did that by telling them that it was my decision to honor Brian in the ways that I felt were most appropriate.  So, I did what Brian would have liked!
...At the funeral my former mother-in-law asked why that music was on and who chose it. I coldly replied, "I did, I knew this is what Brian would want!"
RIP Brian, 1962-2001
Again, my condolences, and prayers for you and your family...
I love the ai,ai,ai...she's a rocker for sure!

P.S. I LOVE the video, keep on rockin'!

For everyone else, do what you feel is right! Never let anyone tell what is appropriate...the only thing that is appropriate is to do what is in your heart.....

Some of my favorite lyrics:
All the world's indeed a stage, and we are merely players
On a good day, I know it ain't everday, we can part the seas
If ya wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes, you'll just have to claw your way through this disguise
History hides the lies of our Civil War

Perhaps you could show her video on youtube or a dvd of a live performance? May help a bit. If you have someone watching her, perhaps they could put it on while you are at the show, so she may feel more like she is there. Also, a concert shirt or trinket of some kind from the show may make her feel like she was there too...Also, you could tell her that you will take her the next time they come to town, when she is bigger : )
It's great that you have a little rocker !!!!!
I'm going to Worcester, ironically on the 10th anniversary...I'm sure Brian will be giving me a big thumbs up for that!
I don't know what your beliefs  are about the afterlife, but I believe that they do stay around and watch over us, to make sure we are alright. A lot of unexplained things happened and still do happen on occasion, things that I can only attribute to Brian, references to things that only I knew, etc. These occurances have been seen by others as well, and no one can explain. It is like they are trying to tell you they are watching and that they love you and want the best for you. I think they are around a lot a first, but it tapers off with time, only because the want to allow you to move on in your life.
I'm sure your wife, Amanda will be there in Hartford with you as well : ) I think she is always with you and especially your daughter!
Like you, I was widowed young, and never wanted anyone else. The feelings never disappear for your loved one, but after 5 years, I was ready to try again. I knew Brian would want me to be happy. He always did. I stated dating my husband in 2005 and married in 2007. He knew what I had gone through with Brian, understood and supported me. He still does, especially when I get out of sorts near the anniversary date. : ) Personally, I think Brian sent him my way(we lived 2 states away from one another) to help me heal, and move ahead in my life...: ) I still think of Brian everyday and I know he was around a LOT after he passed. He is not around much anymore, and I think the reason is that he knows I have found happiness and I am taken care of.
I wish you all the best! You seem to be healing and positive, which is great! Keep on your path of light and goodness and reaching out to others to help, you never know what you may find...
If you ever want to chat, please send me a private message...
I hope you have a great time at the show! PLEASE post all the details : )
