I know I'm an old guy and some these people some of you may have never heard of. That's okay. I'll take a geritol and chill.

I have met Dave Clark from the Dave Clark Five ("I like it like that".)

I have met the Associations ("Along Comes Mary".)

I have met Ray Wylie Hubbard (he wrote "Redneck Mothers".)

I have met Arlo Guthrie ("Alice's Restaraunt".)

I hav met Bugs Henderson (a local Texas rock legend.)

A band I auditioned for, XLR8, included a nephew of Harry Chapin ("Cat's in the Cradle".) The nephew, George, had also been in a local Texas legend, Silverado.

I have met John Kay of Steppenwolf.

I have met the Nelson twins.

I have met Ted Nugent and have two autographed books from him. "God, Guns, and Rock and Roll" and his cookbook, "Kill it and Grill it."

i only know ol' ted. was a huge fan of him some 10 years ago. lucky that you met him.

Some years ago, Unka Ted was going to play at the Bronco Bowl and was going to have a booksigning at a store in Dallas. He had to have emergency root canal surgery that morning and had to cancel the book signing, though he still did the show. Anyway, he said he would come back to do the signing and he did so, honoring his own word. Though he is tall, I'm actually taller than he is. He describes himself as 6' 1" whereas I am 6' 6".

The only thing he ever did that didn't make sense to me, and he agrees, is joining Damn Yankees. While he was typical Ted, it got somewhat muted and really became the Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades show.

I saw him in the reality show "Supergroup." Even though the show was funny and he stepped back enough to help the music, it was also a lot of created drama and not how these people are in real life. Though he played his part straight and not to the camera. As well as Scott Ian played himself. I think Bas was all about the drama.

I saw him perform at the Coca Cola Starplex back in 1996 or 97 and it was amazing. He kept teasing the audience by ending most every song with the opening of "Wang Dang."

When I saw them at an oldies fest, they did a few of their dad's songs (Ricky Nelson) but they did more hard rock hits and nothing from their album. Believe it or not, they are really excellent musicians and are also quite humble with the fans. You just walk right up and talk to them like they were your neighbors.

Outside of music, I have met and talked to Shelley Duvall, actress and sister of actor Robert Duvall. She's a homegrown girl from Houston.

I have also met Natalie Cole, daughter of Nat King Cole. She is a tall woman.

Finally, someone who knows what song I am talking about. Sometimes, I feel really old.

Back in 1996, I was working with a young man who liked to listen to rap music on his loud car stereo. I had a tape of myself fiddling around with my 4-track recording machine. 1st track was a 12-bar blues riff in both ears for background. 2nd track was lead guitar in the left channel. 3rd track was lead guitar in the right channel. The lead guitar tracks were different riffs in the same key and it all came together rather well, even though I was just fooling around and not trying to get over-complicated. The young man says, "That sounds really good." I said, at that time in 1996, "I have been playing for over 21 years." He said, "You mean, you've been playing longer than we have been alive?" I said, "Yeah, thanks .... God, I feel old."

Here's some music I grew up with.
