yeah, it amazes me too that you had complained about 2 users saying good morning in like 10000000 posts.

It's actually the same complaint, I just have to repeat myself a lot, change the words, shuffle the sentences, find new analogies, etc,  'cause the audience is so dense. I guess if my target's got only 1/100 of the neurons of normally developed people then it would take 100 times longer to get the point across. But I get rewarded! Just now "Manchild" has actually -- and hold on to your hat -- managed to express that it is better to post off-topic, personal messages in his threads than just off-topic messages directed to the whole board. That made me laugh for a long time.

We have already understood what you are trying to say. Just do like other users, skip the salutations and off topic comments, relax and enjoy the forum.
You can't change people, I mean nobody will change to please you or any other user.
And the only thing you'll get by repeating yourself so many times is that you'll look like an Italian mom  :yuck

BTW, Good morning  :D

Well, actually I can, and usually I do. But I'm flexible when it comes to the tone of my postings, if the target is known to be direct and aggressive, then I don't mind being either. If the target is soft spoken and polite, then I am too. You see, I just adapt to the environment and level with those I discuss with. I don't really care too much for how things are delivered, the important is what is actually being said, the message. And I never compromise when it comes to my message.

Do you agree with "Manchild" that personal, off-topic messages are o.k.?

You can't change people, I mean nobody will change to please you or any other user.
And the only thing you'll get by repeating yourself so many times is that you'll look like an Italian mom  :yuck

Of course people can change! At least those able to evolve. Often pride gets in the way of immediate change, but if the change only occurs after a long time, or is only obvious on other arenas, it is still worthwhile. I have changed a lot in the 15+ years I've been active on various discussion boards, not immediately, but gradually so as to not loose face :).

I don't mind behaving like an Italian mom if they too are relentless when trying to raise their dimwitted sons. Actually I have a lot of respect for Italian women in general.

Believe this: If I thought that personal off-topic messages on public message boards were just an annoyance to me and did not diminish the value of that board for everyone, then I would have stopped this argument a long time ago. If you backtrack you will see that I was clear about this from the get-go. As it happens it has become apparent that I am not alone with reacting to this, other people have said so in this thread and elsewhere. In other words, I am not just doing this for myself, to please me, but because I am convinced that it would be the best for us all. And when I say all I even include Warchild - 'cause I am certain he wouldn't like it if other people (except himself and his friends) starting interrupting his threads with off-topic and exclusively personal messages. He is just too full of pride or stupidity & selfishness (or a combination) to understand this and publicly admit he was wrong.

Fine ... you made your point clear. I'll make a point too: I'm here since early 2006, and I've seen relations starting in the forum. People who met here and then became friends in real life. Like me and ashesofroses, and many others.
So I think seeing people getting along (saying hello to each other, making jokes and posting funny off topic comments) adds value to the forum that, otherwise would be like a cold answering machine.

Having (as you said) the ability to adapt to the environment - which is certainly a good thing  - try to adapt to this environment without trying to change it, because it will change and evolve into new directions by itself.

And like I said on the previous post, you sound like a smart person. I believe people would enjoy reading your posts if you just stop repeating the same thing

BTW, I like italian moms too, my granma is an italian mom and sometimes she gets sooooo annoying criticizing what I eat.

I'm with SoulMonster.

Posts such as this:

Good Morning Miss rain.......
W. is obliterated
watch my back,call out LaFamilia
check ur Pms

xxoo
:mwa
w.

are not only diminishing the value of the board, they are also blatent attempts at organised e-bullying, which is just pathetic.

Also; Gaby:

SoulMonster, asking someone to check PMs is not uncommon here.

It is uncommon. In fact, the only person I can think of that does it other than La Famalia, is Bonehill (before he got banned).

But SoulMonster, you're wasting your time. I just tried to have a civilised disagreement with Miss Rain a few pages back, and when she realised she had no valid points, she just degenerated into name calling and making insulting, non-factual generalisations about my character. And then she ignored my responce.

Still, good on you for not letting them wear you down like they've done the rest of us.

Well I've read other people writing "check PMs" or "PM me" before, here or at cd.com.
Anyways... why is that so important casino?

There are worse things happening in the news section like... abaraxas. He is always off topic and only comes to the main section to bitch at Warchild and to support dave  :yuck . I skip his posts here, while he posts funny stuff in the flamepit and in the whatever sections that I don't skip.

Here in the main section I skip both you and abaraxas, because I don't recall any post from you 2 contributing to the threads discussion ... like the interview, or the tour rumor where your only post was an attack to WC instead of making a comment about the possible tour.

As much as I find you and abaraxas almost funny in the other sections, I find you annoying in the main section. But I don't waste time complaining.  :slywink:

There's nothing wrong with adding humour and intellect to the posts. There's nothing wrong with making jokes and posting funny stuff. This is of benefit to the whole board. But what is wrong is posting entirely personal messages that is of no value to others in other peoples threads when there's a perfectly fine tool (the PM system) for such. This is actually the reason why we differentiate between a public board and a personal message system. I sincerely hope you see the difference.

Anyways... why is that so important casino?

The point is that putting "check ur PM's" at the end of a message is uncommon, even if it's not too rude. However, a post which only serves to ask someone to check their PM's, is unneeded and irrelevant, and, like SoulMonster said, diminishes the value of the board. When said post is also asking members of an an internet gang (or family, as you and the mafia call it) to start harassing arguing and with another forum user, then it becomes e-bullying, and unnacceptable. That's why it's so important.

There are worse things happening in the news section like... abaraxas. He is always off topic and only comes to the main section to bitch at Warchild and to support dave  :yuck . I skip his posts here, while he posts funny stuff in the flamepit and in the whatever sections that I don't skip.

And yet I don't think you've ever had a problem with W/C being off topic, have you? You're right about the difference between this section and the flamer section, though. The news section, or the world news section, are for discussion, and treating people respectfully. However, W/C is one of the worst for that. He turns otherwise amicable threads into arguments, and then creates threads on an issue just so he can bash a user for posten an opposing viewpoint.

Here in the main section I skip both you and abaraxas, because I don't recall any post from you 2 contributing to the threads discussion ... like the interview, or the tour rumor where your only post was an attack to WC instead of making a comment about the possible tour.

Hold on. "My only post in the tour rumor thread was to bash W/C"...

I have no information on the rumor, so I had nothing to add to the conversation, and I just read the thread with interest. Everyone in the thread was discussing the possiblities, including Dave, and everyone was being civil. Then W/C and some other guy posted:

Will this be ok with you? Or will you find something to bellyache about?

HA...... I am betting he and his alter ego will whine and complain some more  :'(

w.

To SLCPUNK
Tr not to be such a dick about it,ok?
dave has done good for everyone here, dont make a cock of yourself over it...

To Abaraxas
Sure he has,if you are into dual personality whiny little
conchudos  :'(     Why would he care about a possible tentative concert when he hates the music?? Boludos....

w.

And then I replied:

Oh for fuck's sake. Why do just try to cause arguments.

You're both pathetic.

And after reding all this, you accuse me of bashing?  :?:

As much as I find you and abaraxas almost funny in the other sections, I find you annoying in the main section. But I don't waste time complaining.  :slywink:

But you do complain, which is why we're having this discussion.

I'm not accusing you, I just wrote that I don't see you discussing the threads in the main section, I only see you fighting with other people lately, you are not contributing to the discussions and debate about the news  :no

You and abaraxas have complained because WC posted in the flamepit "spoiling" your fun. He stopped posting there and you both took the flames into the main section. Didn't know you would miss him that much

And I'm not complaining either (or you would have noticed ), I said I skip you here because I don't want to get involved in stupid fights with you and abaraxas

And concerning dave... I decided I'm not gonna take what he writes so seriously anymore... I'll just laugh at his posts, because after what I've read in the Billboard interview, I've realized the guy is a joke.

Firstly: You are accusing;

like the interview, or the tour rumor where your only post was an attack to WC instead of making a comment about the possible tour.

Sounds like an accusation to me.

Secondly: I am more than glad that he left the flame section, and I don;t miss him even remotely. I also don't take the flaming to the news section. If you had bothered to read all my post you would see that the reason I'm here having this discussion now, is because of W/C flaming people in this section. I don't flame his topics, and I try to be respectful in this section, but I do say something when he is doing it to other users.

Thirdly: Ignoring Dave's fine. Deliberately starting arguments with him, and turning otherwise amicable threads into arguments for your own amusement is not fine.

Finally: Why do you consistently cherry-pick my posts? I allways make a good effort to address all of your points, and you allways seem to make a concious effort to ignore the bulk of my posts, which I find a bit of a slap in the face, after I've made an effort on your posts.

If I did offend you, sorry. And thanks for making an effort, keep trying  :slywink: :D
