I've only been playing for a little bit now and I was wondering what are some songs that you guys would suggest for a beginner?

anything you struggle with; it's the only way you'll improve. I remember sitting for hours trying to work out how to play welcome to the jungle. I totally half assed it; it must have sounded shit! But I still got the jist of it, and became a better player. And now I can wing that song, and just make up solos on the spot. All that came with just trying to stretch my playing out all the time.

Basically, aim higher than you can play, and you'll improve naturally ;)

What do you know so far? Do you know some chords? are you looking for something more chordy? or something more riffy with a lead to it? Nirvana is a pretty good place to start IMO Its simple enough, but if you're just beginning its enough of a challenge thats within reach sooner than later.

Its always good to try and pick songs that you really like.. just make sure its a challenge, but not unachievable for you at this point. You want to end up having the feeling that you've progressed some.

So far its mainly been chord based but I took time out to learn simple riffs and things like the Sweet Child O Mine solo.... I think that helped out alot with the fast pick when the tempo picks up cos thats something i was having a lot of trouble with

What other bands do you like.
I'd suggest learning Patience or used to love her.

I started with Black Sabath songs, Electric Eye is a good one to begin, If u want, I can pass u the tab

Slither by Velvet Revolver is easy too (Not the solo), and when you've been practising 'bout 2 weeks more or less (But practice hard,ok dude?) you'll can play Sweet child o' mine, or Smoke on the Water, after this, try some Ozzy Osbourne ones, or try to play the first November Rain Solo

I hope that could be usefull :D
