GUNS N' ROSES: More 'Chinese Democracy' First-Week Chart Positions Revealed - No

GUNS N' ROSES' new album, "Chinese Democracy", has registered the following first-week chart positions so far (Note: The album wasn't available a full week in many of these territories when the charts were compiled):

Early U.S. sales reports suggest that "Chinese Democracy", which was released through an exclusive deal with the Best Buy chain, might not be the blockbuster the industry had hoped for, according to The New York Times. Sales figures will not be available until Wednesday (December 3), but early estimates put the first-week total at 300,000 copies (including a reported 25,000 downloads at iTunes on November 23 not counted towards the opening week for the Sunday release) — roughly 50,000 more than the opening number registered by "Contraband", the 2004 debut from VELVET REVOLVER, which features in its ranks Rose's former GUNS N' ROSES bandmates Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. KANYE WEST's new album, "808s and Heartbreak", will be No. 1 on next week's Billboard chart with a total that looks to be between 450,000 and 500,000.

And for the other Axl fanboys: spent 15 years making the so-called best album of all time, most expensive album of all time and a decent showing on the charts = utter, pathetic failure. And y'all know it well. This album shoulda sold a million copies first week if was half as good as you said it would be. I dont even think it will reach 1 million... why? He's such a baby that he's threatening legal action against Dr. Pepper for "ruining" Chinese Democracy's release, like the publicity didn't help him. WAAAAAAH! Actually, I kinda understand why Axl is pissed: most expensive album of all time, Geffen stopped paying for it years ago, so Axl has sunk a lot of his own cash into it. Its gonna have to sell millionS to turn a profit, and it dont look like that will happen

I think the results are pretty good. Which album would have sold as good as CD with an equal amount of negative comments in advance?
Don't forget people (and media) have been bashing Axl for years. I've read many reviews of magazines, although they didn't expect it, admitting it is quiet decent. It could take a while for other bashers to realise that too, but I certainly don't think there's no one left to buy CD.

In the U.S. it opened higher than in Australia and also opened at the exact same number 2 position as in the U.K. despite having the handicap of being a BestBuy exclusive, so what's the info really saying !?

I do admit though I am a bit depressed that the U.S. has turned into a hip hop nation, though considering the number 2 debut (once again DESPITE being a BestBuy exclusive) and the fact bands like AC/DC are still pumping out the numbers , it shows that Rock N Roll aint dead yet.

i don't get you... you're saying a nunch of stuff that makes no sense... nobody called this or expcted it to be the greatest album of all time. you added that... secondly if you take into consideration all the circumstances surrounding this album the number aren't even bad... it's not 1991, nor 1999.... it's 2008, so much has changed, you can't expect this album to be one of the best sellers... it doesn't make it better or worse if the number are great or bad... after 15 years and no promotion after all trhe bad press that went trought to be #2 in the UK and #2 in US for the first week, not to mention NR.1 in many europeian country... a failure? what are you smoking, i want some of it.... and if Axl went and spend 10 millions dollars on the album, will he go broke or what.... didn't you hear - bestbuy bought 3 million copies, you do the math ...
it's one thing not to agree with Mr. Rose and some of the fans and completely another to insult and say very negative things about Axl and Co. all the bitching makes you thoughts blury...

The album is GOLD here in Brazil, but I'll wait 'till the official announcement before confirm this. It's #1 and we've got no promotion over here - not to mention that in several cities the album isn't out yet!
