Gotta say I like pretty much everything about the final version better than the leak. Guitar solos included.
This is my favorite track on the disc at the moment.

I like this song because of many reasons the melodic encounter of the voice and the music makes it a catchy tune, but the lyrics speak of a story that is in way a tragedy to the music world, and the revival of soulful music. I love the songs meaning and what and who it reminds me of.
Can any of you imagine if destiny had allowed John Lennon and Axl to compose together.. maybe not for this world.

It's a great song, the guitar work is really well done, but I don't see Axl's voice really standing out :tear:

my only complaint with it is that the guitar and axls voice clash in the outro. it just doesnt seem to flow to me. but still great

At first when I heard the finished version, I heard the piano parts that have been added and just thought what the fuck? It sounded like Dizzy had an epileptic fit whilst recording them. But now for some reason, they seem to fit it so well. I'm definately going through a catcher phase at the minute :nod:9/10
How about a pint of me?

some younger kids screamin bout catcher in rye as axl trying to recapture youth....i dont think so at all.. when appetite came out i was 15 and remember like yesterday..i love catcher in the rye maybe my favorite on chinese.....i think it shows a wise yet open outlook on different views and a sarcastic humor to experiences and pushing it out in this song maybe ya gotta be a little older to relate to the lyrics............b ut when the song plays i can jus close my eyes and zone out wit it for a few minutes. when all is said and done, were not the only one's, who look at life this way thats what the old folks say...

hey pawnshop check out MIKE GARSON-he was Bowies piano player in the early 70s and late nineties-also plays on some NIN stuff. Dizzys playing SO reminds me of Mike Garson.
And thats a good thing!

I think the 2:00 minute mark to the 3:00 is the single greatest minute on Chinese Democracy.

I love the little subtle trancy beat, then it goes in to Axl, "Lana na na na na na", then drifts off to a beautiful solo.

I would love to direct a video for this song, that parts ( 2:00-3:00 and the close) just sound so eventful and reminiscent.

I could imagine Axl with a half way smile on his face just thinking back at all of the hell he went through to get this album out, and seeing how everyone has reacted.

"Hell, not even this can go smooth..... Mother fuckers blaming me for their Dr. Pepper"

I doubt that's what he'd really be pondering, but it is amusing, that, we have some GREAT music on our hands and everyone has skipped past it.

"I WANT MY DR. PEPPER and a REUNION!!!!!!!" Looks like Axl loses again.

Forgive me if this has been said on this thread, but "Catcher In The Rye" reminds me of "Breakdown" which has become one of my Guns favorites.
