I don't know why, but I can't stop listening to this song, I can live without listening to anything else, but I need to listen to this song, it's so deep, so melodic, and the guitar solo is nothing short of a masterpiece built upon Brian May, even though this song starts off a bit slow, it ends up being my favorite song, beating Sorry by a mile, just because of the beautiful guitar, drum and vocal work, and lyrical meaning.
+1!!

YES i totally notice it.  "just another day like today..." sounds really off to me

i like the chorus, i like the mood and tone of his voice but considering ur point... you have to kinda think that it must be intentional considerin Axl had enough time to change it?!

I really like this song and for a while, it's been stuck in my head.

While the beginning reminds me of some of the doubled guitar work on UYI set, it still moves forward. I like the way Rose songs this song. Very clean. And I really dig the harmonized choir with Rose in conjunction. I also happen to like the guitar work.

I also happen to like Brian May. But could he tour with GnR? Doubtful, as he is still busy with Queen.

And no, Rose is not Salinger. Unless we're all Salingers.

And I messed up in my previous post. I meant to say that we're caulfields. We have own bits of naivety.

Anyway, this song is the most influenced by Queen. From the choral arrangements, to the May-style solo, to the ending with a piano on an imperfect cadence. Imperfect means it doesn't end on the tonic. It ends on the 5th tone or chord from the tonic, or primary tone of the key.

I made a boo-boo. The imperfect cadence ends on the 4th, not the 5th. Sorry for the inaccuracy.

I have had some difficulties with the lyrics. I didn't know what "Catcher in the rye" stands for ...
However, some "research" did help. It's a good song - I like it a lot.

The song was originally inspired by what Rose calls the Caulfield Syndrome as typified by the character in the book, "Catcher in the Rye." But it is not autobiographical. But this led people to call Rose the Salinger of Rock and Roll. It has been decades since Salinger wrote anything new and it took 13 years to finish Chinese Democracy, and not all that is due to any "perfectionist" tendencies on Rose's part, aside from his not wanting to put out some crap just to have some crap out there on the market.

Is there any line in the song that is also in the book?
Iv read upto chapter 14 so far and not recognised any lines from the song?

But as for the song AMAZING i love the lines "An ordanary day , not in an ordanary way"
