The chorus after the solo is worth the entire wait.

need the most help with this song. It's obviously the most political song on the album. What's your take on the lyrics? How do you interpret them?

I believe it's a song about terrorists and how much Axl hates them and how being an American we're going to win the war on terror because terrorists don't have a chance and stuff.  Maybe a specific group of terrorists.  Al Qaeda mayhaps.  They had a plan (9/11) and thought they'd win (thought America would be demoralized and fold and stuff but was instead ignited) but they crossed the line (obvious) and lost again (the US bombed the shit out of them).

Hm, it still applies.  Maybe it was written in response to another terrorist attack.  Or maybe he wrote it about another war, in general.  Or maybe, as others have speculated, it's just about relationships between people.  Though I doubt it.

I can see why people were speculating that this was Oklahoma before Axl posted on other forums.

Tommy must freakin' love playing this song.  What a bass line! Love the lyrics, great riffs.  Both the leak and album versions have cool solos.  Great effects.  Nothing to complain about in this song!  I really hope they play it live again.

Reminds me a bit of Immigrant Song by Led Zep. Nice aggrasive vocals by Axl and amazing guitar playing allround. Also the drumming is brilliant. This song is a massive showcase of new GNR's talent allround.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. The soaring vocal reminds me of the Plant's wail from the "Immigrant Song."

As well as the monster guitar riff.
