• The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time 1. Aretha Franklin 2. Ray Charles 3. Elvis Presley 4. Sam Cooke 5. John Lennon 6. Marvin Gaye 7. Bob Dylan 8. Otis Redding 9. Stevie Wonder 10. James Brown ... 64. Axl RoseBorn: February 6th, 1962 Key Tracks: "Sweet Child o' Mine," "Paradise City," "November Rain" Influenced: Josh Todd (Buckcherry), Marilyn Manson, Chester Bennington "Axl sings the most beautiful melodies with the most aggressive tones and the most outrageous, freakish range," says Sebastian Bach. "There's maybe five people in the world that can sing in his range." Slash once described the sound of Rose's voice in slightly different terms: It's like "the sound that a tape player makes when the cassette finally dies and the tape gets ripped out," he said, "but in tune." It's immediately identifiable, with a combination of brute force and subtlety that is easy to overlook amid the sonic assault of Guns n' Roses. Ballads like "Patience" and "November Rain" reveal a startling intimacy, even vulnerability, but it's his fearsome screech on full-throttle metal like "Welcome to the Jungle" that can still peel paint off the walls, more than 20 years later. http://www.gnrdaily.com/news_detail.asp?id=1776http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/11/12/the-new-issue-of-rolling-stone-the-100-greatest-singers/

Bob Dylan sings better than Axl???? No way man! Axl is, was and will allways be THE BEST SINGER IN THE FUCKING WORLD! Every song that he sang on is fucking MASTERPIECE! He has a breath taking technique none of other singers can be proud of! That is why there are only few singers that covered Axl, it's as hard as hell to sing notes that he sang and the way he sang them!

What a lame and straight list .. its completely bullshit !! axl rose at the 60 th place or something . U got to be jesus to actually sing better than him and be abel to pull of what he can do in a studio/live . I would rather call the list top 100 honor singers of all time .. This is not the best singers . Singers like layne staley , robert plant , axl rose , brian johnson, dan mcafferty (nazareth) THATS great singers and frontmen !!! aretha franlin ?get real !!! I say janis joplin is a way better choice

I am a huge Guns fan, and loyal to Axl, but I am also a realist. OK...maybe 64 is kinda low, I would say that 20 something would be fair. He is not the greatest vocalist of all time. Lets be real. If this was "most recognizable" or "best front man" then we would have a better argument. Also lets not forget that Axl is kinda like the republican party. He gets no love from the media.
