I've had the opportunity to listen to Chinese Democracy and can tell you that there is not even the slightest comparison. Plus, AFD is probably the most know rock album in recent history. It was much more then Glam or 80's. We all can agree, it was ahead of it's time. Why else would a label like Geffen (hence Aerosmith etc) sign them. CD is a great album. Just like Axl it is multi-faceted. Depending on whether your a G N' R fan because of Axl, like me. Or because of the band, depends on how you will welcome this album. It's Industrial meets Classical meets Electronica. It in no way, will remind you of AFD. Just listen to Madagascar (Civil War influence) or Shackler's Revenge (NIN influenced aka Robin Finck) You're gonna love this album if ya except it as something new

how will I know it, I still haven't listened to the whole stuff. (the official themes are a bit changed from the leaked ones)

anyway, don't compare them. take them as two different things

No comparison, simple as that. I think the quality of the songs is very good even if sometimes I think they could be magical if the original line up had been involved . The new line up does bring a lot to the table in fairness though, so I'm kinda torn between the old and new

Damn, against AFD? I'd side with Chinese Democracy if it was up against UYI 1&2, but against AFD? Welcome To The Jungle, Rocket Queen, Paradise City, It's So Easy, Sweet Child O' Mine. These songs defined the generation in rock, although Chinese Democracy could do the same, I hardly believe it'll reach up to the sheer rawness of AFD. But it'll succeed because it's very different from AFD, because no one likes a one-dimensional band like Motley Crue, you can only come up with so many good songs that sound the same.
Mathematical.

This calls for an impossible answer. Appetite for Destruction is a masterpiece from the 80's, when Guns N' Roses were young, glamour rock was trendy and they had all their illusions up and kicking! Chinese Democracy is brought to us over 20 years later (Axl is past his mid-forties now), under new influences, new life experiences and, above all, with a sincerely different vision. Axl is no longer a kid searching for "fortune and shame". He is looking for that spot among the giants. He is older, wiser and determined to make a difference - Chinese Democracy proves this - each and every song is a different experience. Appetite for Destruction is our baby, Chinese Democracy is our baby going to college. Appetite for Destruction made history. I don't need for Chinese Democracy to do the same - all I want is to keep following the path it will lead us to.
I won't be told anymore, that I've been brought down in this storm and left so far out from the shore, but I can't find my way back my way anymore.........

u maybe right about AFD but CD is just as good as UYI I&II
Agree.According to me CD will sell more than The Spaghetti Incident, and less than AFD    (possibly it`ll come at the same level as UYI).The success of AFD will never ever be repeated, for lots of different reasons.

AFD has sold over 28 million albums to date.  Look it up on Wikepedia.  See below.

Guns N' Roses has sold an estimated 100 million albums worldwide,[1][2][3], including over 42 million in the United States.[4] The band's 1987 major label debut album, entitled Appetite for Destruction, has sold in excess of 28 million copies and reached number one on the United States Billboard 200. In addition, the album charted three Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Sweet Child o' Mine" which reached number one.[5] 1991's Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II debuted on the two highest spots on the Billboard 200 and have sold a combined 14 million copies in the United States alone.
